Thing is, i realised this halfway through college. I have one year left of (system) engineering. Is there a master which could enable me to make the transition to banking?

Do mathematical finance though, then you can get a quant role.

I've talked about this with a professor and he said i'd be better off with a MBA than with a master in finance, given i'll have an engineering degree.
I'll look into this, either master i follow i'll definitely do it in London.

Implying you need a masters, or MBA to start. Just network. Get on LinkedIn add everybody and there grandma, take some basic accounting and finance courses, look up wallstreet oasis, or breaking into wall street to learn more. Network until you find someone willing to give you a chance. Extend your graduation by a semester so you can intern, and apply for the firm you interned with.
