Are we talking absolute profits, or profit margins? Also, how management runs the business is a big factor.

The Razor/Blade model has its wording wrong. The razor is low margin so they can sell more blades at a high margin.
Also, microtransactions. Subset of freemium. Free product with small additions at low cost. ie. League of Legends, every phone app ever.
