Ethereum
NXT
Ripple

All have nteresting aspects to them that set them aoart from BTC

Litecoin

The only other altcoin that has some volume and support behind it.

Dogecoin

Totally idiotic but might see some more great pumps in the future

Check coinmarketcap for the volumes and rates. There might be some alts that have the chance to become something, did not research them all.

This lol. Altcoins are literally memes. Only a delusional clueless retard would call Bitcoin a meme, but as someone that is knowledgeable on the matter, Bitcoin is the only thing worth keeping long term. The rest are pretty pointless. NXT has been compromised to ridiculous levels, the fact they considered a rollback should make you realize how much of an inconsistent system PoS is. Ripple is centralized trash, Ethereum may make it, but will never be as Bitcoin and is under the danger of becoming irrelevant as a token thanks to sidechains.
>>
>>1006935
Literally anything. Why would anyone ever buy Bitcoin except to buy drugs on the darknet?

just ignore them, they're either trolling or desperately trying to shill so they can sell their shitty meme for actual money without losing anything.

So nextgen that it will be run under the Bitcoin blockchain as a 2way pegged sidechain. Stop trying to come up with excuses to have your own token.
>>
>>1007489
Youre gonna be surprised then
>>
>>1007489
It makes no sense to have some system of token indirection for the protocol of the future via a sidechain. If Bitcoin's core technology advances quickly and catches up to Ethereum then fine, but if it continues at the same glacial pace, it will fall behind. Having a token baked into the protocol that eventually becomes dominant (and Ethereum has way more use cases than buttcoin) is what will be used.

You retards need to stop with the Bitcoin in the context of an "investment". It's not based in currency exchange or economic reality. Find a local casino or just use options.

Decentralized dark markets going online now.

Zerocash pegged sidechain being developed.

Yet it's being floated on a stable volatile: drug industry (illicit and grey or clearnet), and safe havens for economically sanctioned countries or entities, possibly money laundering or even tax havens etc.

Basically, all of the types of shit you do NOT want to get directly into, not rely on as anything safe or reasonable, and yet, on aggregate and taken as a whole, is actually as incredibly reliable as people's appetites. In fact I would say it's akin to a sideshow to the culinary sector, for while most restaurants individually fold within 3 years, the food industry as a whole isn't going anywhere and will remain long after say electronics or automobiles are obsolete.

So, unless and until it is not utilised for those sorts of transactions, as well as the fact it has now been legitimized in various other arenas, BTC is kind of almost a way to capitalize on those sorts of things on aggregate without exposing yourself to risk, at least not those and not directly.

Mixing topics. Having a function does not correlate to the value associated with that function. Btc is not an index fund of illicit activities as you are implying, rather a currency with the heaviest influence on price being by speculators of that value.
>>
>>1007442
Yea there are side chans though
>>
>>1011114
why is the price so high?
>>
>>1011294
It's a currency used to engage in these functions, however, and as such will see gains as the traffic in these areas increases, akin to how a currency enjoys increased trading power when a country's GDP is up or its debt is low.

Why sweden?

>trades between krona and USD: $3.5 billion daily
>trades between krona and Bitcoin: $37 thousand daily
>businesses that accept Bitcoin in Sweden: 30 total
Bitcoin hasn't gained much acceptance at all there. The adoption rates are considerably low. Sweden is notorious for high taxes but also loopholes in tax codes. A lot of Swedish citizens have found ways to circumvent capital gains taxes, which is exactly what Bitcoin would fall under as a commodity. By labeling Bitcoin as a virtual currency and not a commodity, the Swedish government is able to cover every single exchange and business that accepts Bitcoin under strict currency regulations such as AML and KYC. It's one of the reasons there are so few businesses that accept it.
>>
>>1011471
As a side note it's funny how Bitcoin spin doctors have turned this into "Europe says Bitcoin is a currency". In reality the reason that Sweden (not Europe) made the distinction is that it makes sense for how thier tax laws are structured. Sweden's VAT (basically a sales tax) is a whopping 25%. If they were to levy it against bitcoin merchants it would hit them twice. First it would hit them when they accepted Bitcoin for goods and services and then they would get hit with a VAT again when they sold the Bitcoin for fiat. The fact that they decided not to do that was fair.
>>
>>1011471
>businesses that accept bitcoin in sweden 30 total

This is complete bullshit stockholm has one of the highest densities of bitcoin accepting businesses in the world.

Sweden is actually very forward looking when it comes to cryptocurrencies.

Why are you spreading FUD?
>>
>>1011514
>bullshit
I actually got those numbers off a coindesk article. Why would a news source that is so pro-bitcoin make this up? Nobody is spreading FUD here.

Unless you can come up with a source that contradicts the numbers you don't have a leg to stand on.

but so many coins are kil and the whole scene is changing so much, really can't be bothered to put much... well, actually any... effort into cryptos until the whole scene gets a bit more of a grip on where it's all heading.
