United Cutlery has always made some cool looking shit, but their tryhard m48 line has been pretty ridiculous lately. I only got this sgian dubh because it looks good for a small dagger, and the price wasn't in the buyer's remorse range. I'm quite happy with it.

crkt is nice and sharp. This is mine. Handle is a bit autistic looking but that blade is sharper than anything I've ever seen.

Only complaint is the clip. It bent irreparably when it caught on a seatbelt. The upside to that, however is that the company has a lifetime warranty. Go to their site and you can order replacement parts, so long as you know the make/model and all that. Also it's free.

Hey, what do you think of Boker?
Any good? I'd like your honest opinion.
>>
>>695137184
(not him) I enjoy some boker and boker plus sometimes. you get what you pay for with them. More you pay, more you get etc.
>>
>>695137184
I just love their style. They use good quality materials from what I've seen and their QC seems to be top notch. I have a few more of theirs including one of the ceramic folders and the tiny Gnome (wood handle not micarta) and they're all great.
>>
>>695137442
>>695137576

Any ideas on whether or not the starfighter would be any good?

Some of the amazon reviews (I know, amazon, fuck off, I checked it to see if it had different prices/ reviews) were negative, regarding it as poor quality or in bad shape...?

It looks pretty nice, and I'd want to get it if it didn't straight suck, so.
>>
>>695137918
Thatll last half a year to a year and a half. Nah, I wouldn't recommend something. Try Kershaw I think at that price range. bladehq or amazon work, doesnt matter
>>
>>695137918
I like the way it looks with the wooden bits. Seems like the problems the reviews stated could be fixed with a bit of work should you run into them. And for $20 bucks it's not like it's a huge loss if it turns out to be shit.
>>
>>695138358
this too. kershaw makes some good stuff in the el-cheapo price range like the 3840. I got one for $16
>>
>>695138358
>>695138395
>>695138712

I used to have some older Kershaws, from the 20 USD range, and they were very great knives, in every way.

I'm bumping my range to ~50 USD right now, but would like to stay as low as possible. I'm willing to start by looking at Boker and Kershaw. Thoughts? Ideas?

I really like the style of the starfighter, (probably won't get it), and usually gear towards tanto blades.
>>
>>695138911
honestly, wood inlays at the price, the knife attached will not be good due to the fact its all the budget. Try like a northwoods knives from knives ship free dotcom. a freemont jack and a forester jack work well for me. But kershaw, has a good 50 strong choices that all work. Kershaw or a tenacious/byrd are the winners at that price.
>>
>>695138911
You could also try CRKT because they have some higher priced knives and if you're going for looks they have some pretty unique ones.
>>
>>695139842

Okay, I'm starting to slip away from Boker's selection, and I'm wondering what you think of the M16-10KSF Special Forces from CRKT.

Looks pretty nice to me, small, compact, and light, but overall a well built knife including lots of my desired functionality.

Namely frame/linerlock mechanism, partial tanto/ serration.
>>
>>695143190
Have one, love it. Flips open effortlessly and fits right inside my watch pocket (knife pocket, lel). Takes a beating and stays sharp for a long time.

I'm amazed at how cheaply you can get the ksf for.

oldschool spyderco was shit dude. Not trolling but I remember catalogs from smoky mountain trying to sell them literally by the hundreds. I was confused when they made such a major comeback only recently, and a vendor explained that they company went from China made shit to American made, which makes so much sense.

Did you ever by one of those hundred ct. sets? I'm curious if they ever sold lol

I thought that the name Cold Steel would be more of an attention grabber than the name Recon. Threw me off lol

I've got this one myself. I love CS but apparently not enough to know all their products

I'm pretty sold on the Tighe Tac Tanto, however I'm wondering if I should be bothered that the blade isn't a non-reflective black.

Thoughts in general?
>>
>>695149014
Oh, and go ahead and let me know your personal comparison/ thoughts between that and the M16-10KSF.
>>
>>695149014
non-reflective black is for weeaboos and wannabe ninjas (slightly different from weeaboos, as no 5 year old ever answered "I wanna be a weeaboo" when asked what they want to be when they grow up)

In any case, there's no practical reason whatsoever for matte black. Nobody is going on a stealth mission, so who cares.
>>
>>695149883
Funny, I was just thinking that when looking at it.

"wait a second, me, at what point did you REALLY intend to be deployed in a stealth operation and simultaneously be using THIS exact knife? What? Never? GREAT!"

It was at that point that I realized how stupid the idea was.

I will admit that it's a neat idea and some knives look pretty fucking cool if they're a different color, but it's next to impractical.
Not nearly as impractical as pic related, but still I'll admit that a red bladed knife is fucking cool to look at

Thats not a knife. Now this is a knife

>>695151088
So, you still haven't said shit about that TTT, and amazon has it for 20 USD cheaper, but with more negative reviews (Apparently every time I like a knife, it gets bad reviews on amazon).
>>
>>695151765
I am not the guy you were originally talking to about the TTT, but I am a serious fan of CRKT products. I think the handle looks a little tacky, but their blades are incredible, I have many CRKT knives myself. I highly recommend it, and I'd ignore amazon reviews, it's about as reliable as battle dot net back in the days of Diablo 2
>>
>>695147156
They have, I remember the SRK model use to go for $50 bucks. Saw that they were selling them for over $100 not long ago.
>>
>>695152261
I think it looks amazing, visually speaking, are you afraid it'll feel sticky and weird?
>>
do you have to open carry big knives ?
>>
>>695152672
nah, I just don't like the design lol. It doesn't look like it accommodates the shape of a hand very easily. But that's just my personal opinion, if you like it, you should buy it. CRKT has great warranty for their products.
>>
>>695152915
Okay to get it through Amazon?

>>
>>695153092
the only issue I have with Amazon is that there is no clear statement of shipping laws there like you get on most normal sites. (I live in NY and our laws prohibit ninja weapons basically) so the assumed rule with Amazon is that the buyer is aware of all shipping laws.

Basically if you don't live in CA, MA, or NY you're fine to order most weapons. don't take my word for it though.

I have ordered knives from amazon and there has been no decline in quality or shipping on their part.
>>
>>695154876
you forgot the middle finger ring too lol

I did not catch that the product says it's from China. Beware anything from Amazon coming from China, they're a bunch of crooks.
>>
>>695155599
Jokes on you, I wear a black tungsten carbide ring on my index finger, right hand. It's actually quite comfortable, but I take it off when I'm doing things I don't want it on for.
>>
>>695155676
Wait a second there. W-What?

What's that gotta do with the quality of the knife?
>>
>>695125481
why the fuck do you waste your money on two?
>>
>>695155823
The quality of the steel. Not everyone uses the same quality materials during the forging process.
>>
>>695156119

the CRKT items I've purchased on Amazon have come in boxes with the mini catalog. Many businesses have an amazon branch. I would just be careful not to order from China.

China is notorious for sending bootleg shit through amazon.
>DS games
>GBA games
>clothing is in chink sizes not american sizes
>many items that look amazing arrive and they look like shit
>many verified purchases can be easily manipulated, and many reviews are false
>if there's a bad review with photos, trust the photos
>I've seen sellers arguing to not listen to reviewers with evidence
chinese sellers have no shame about their stuff, so just be cautious.
>>
>>695157798
Well, if anything goes sour, I could just send it back and bitch at Amazon, and they'd send me a new one, no?

If you like sharpening knives then by all means. But from experience I'm saying you'd do better to buy American steel when it comes to a edc blade.

To be fair I have a knife I love from China. It's sharp as fuck but only because I sharpen it every other day on a fine grit wet stone using wd-40 oil.

I am not certain if Amazon's guarantees extend to Chinese vendors though I have no reason to think they have some kind of diplomatic immunity. Just keep a copy of your bank statements/receipts at the ready in case you have to dispute.

http://www.crkt.com/steelfacts

Went to their page and found this. The company seems like a solid choice though. When it comes to Amazon shipping I think the other anon was worried more about them getting some Chinese knockoff over the real thing. To be on the safe side you could order directly from crkt. That's what I'd do in this case.
