It's enjoyable if you don't get triggered too hard by some tumblr-tier acceptance bullshit. It never gets preachy about it but it is there (what with the gays and blacks and shit). I wouldn't say it's on the level of gravity falls but it is close. I think it is aiming more at jokes and "aw cute" than GF did.
Just stay away from the fanbase and creators of it and you should be able to have some light-hearted fun with the show.

The creators aren't even that bad, anything wrong with the show is entirely the fanbase. Also GF was good but the ending was a tad underwhelming and I think SU is a bit better at this point. As you can read in the thread it's a mixed bag, I like it but when it panders it panders HARD (Like with the stephonie episode) and a joke that actually runs really true is most problems are solved by singing and crying. the characters and how they interact is charming though, especially when it's not muh rose. Though the development of the characters can be scattered, like when they went a whole season and said "WAIT WE FORGOT THE PURPLE ONE" and made one of the cringiest episodes in the show. you might want to give the first three (two if you really can't stand it) episodes a shot and make a choice on your own.

The show overall is about the gems, who are faced with problems on a regular basis. They whilst using female pronouns save the day, steven helps but its not until he embraces his other side (avoiding spoilers) that he is able to really help out.

but here is the thing, even the human females such as sadie and connie seem to be able to take up sword or spear and kill bad guys.
-While all the men in the show are portrayed as useless twats, literally when it comes time to step up almost all the men in the show are useless and portrayed as weak and stupid.

All relationships between the gems are essentially female on female, while they are in fact genderless, they always use "she, her" and other female pronouns. And fusion is practically like them having sex more or less in the show.

Overall, I really enjoy the show, I really do, but you cant ignore that rebecca sugar is a tumblr feminist warrior who happened to get a show going.

Reasons I enjoy the show is because they have a strong sense of continuity, for instance if you see something happen in an earlier episode, you bet damned well its going to make a reappearance. And the humor for the most part is really solid. I find myself laughing at the humor in this show more than I do that shit show uncle grandpa or other abortions of cartoons out today.

Its pretty good but only begins to truly pick up around Giant Women. The shit before that almost isn't worth it, but when they're not doing shitty filler episodes involving characters we don't give a shit about and actually gets into the gem story, its becomes good. Pretty obvious Tumblr bait but for what it is, its good. I enjoy it.

Island adventure- Sadie saves the day by being the survivalist. While anyone can have the capacity to survive in the wild, she is down a the only one capable of doing this. The show sticks to its tropes of casting the woman as the logical and reasonable gender. She acted irrationally by hiding the portal but that was because of love which makes everyone do stupid shit.
