I do, however, disagree that a taser should have been the first choice. A taser is for suspects who are not an immediate threat, and seeing as how this particular suspect had one hand behind his back and was quickly closing ground, they assumed he had a weapon. Having the ability to cause harm makes you a threat, and since the cops didn't have x ray vision, they logically assumed he had a weapon in his right hand.
