It's a thought out response, but it's flawed in my opinion.

Nearly all artists start out shit, it's practice and critique that makes you get better. Art doesn't exist in a vacuum, how will you ever know you're "good enough"? There's also no such think, you can always and will always want to be better.

Wanting to be great before you make a start is just fear and procrastination. Expecting to just dorp a track and have everyone blown away and fall at your feet is wishful thinking. I guarantee most of the artists you respect started small and shitty and grew over time through hard work.

I'm not a musician, but a painter and it took me a while to get out of the instant success mindset. I started putting out work that I wasn't happy with, but some people still liked it a bought prints etc... and as I grew in skill so did the following I had and I can now make a living from it.

Anyway, just my two cents. Good luck with it either way.

I do actively seek criticism on tracks, I just don't post it publicly. Usually on IRC etc., people will tear into me, push their musical tastes and opinions on me, and disregard me as a person in general and I need that and value it beyond anything else because I can't be shit if I don't get weathered to what the profession requires.
