The problem with this method mathematically is that only winning £1 per "run" of losses means eventually you will spin the wheel so many times and essentially lose all your money.
All you need to lose £1024 is a streak of 10 losses in a row, of which there is a 1/1024 chance - improbable, but you would need at least that many spins to make that much money (provided you win every 1024 spins in a row; good luck.)
Now technically, if you play with an unlimited amount of money then you will indeed always win £1 per "run" and never lose more than you have, but you have an infinite amount of money anyway so why would you be playing Roulette.
Also 0 exists so there isn't even a 50/50 chance you'll win on each given spin.
