Please don't post something illegible or with a crap-ton of text. That's just not fun.

The one with the beer?
That one is hard to read the but larger text that says (literally) "service time, 250 yen"

Idiomatically, service (saabisu) means gratis or business favors of some time (comping someone a room can be called 'servicing' in this context.

This is an advertisement for a cheap beer happy hour.
>>
>>694204330
Good point, though I would harp on the conclusion that this building is related to planting. Ueki is also just a name, and may be the name of the building, often taken from an owner.
>>
>>694204333

Fuck off, it's not funny.

>>694204259

So 旭 is きょく、and it means somehing around "rising sun" or "morning sun" (旭日 kyokujitru).

It's a rare character though, which is why I looked it up because I didn't know what it was when you showed it.

Anyway, the sign says "number one rising sun ramen" (number one as in this is the first of this, not "I'm the best").

Wagaya (我が家)

One's house, one's family.

Likely a friendly name chosen for this shop
>>
>>694206215

我が家(ware ga ie)

"I am home" Emphasis on "I." I think it's leaning more on the side of "I have arrived at home," but it could be something more obscure like "I am (your) home." I'm going to say it's the former just because it's a beer company, unless the beer is talking and is saying "I'm your home" in a comforting tone so then it will be bought.

Sounds like a stretch however.
>>
>>694206852

This.

My translation is botched. I understood the meaning in the beginning, but I had never learned it in English so I went off of feeling and, well, it became the mess that you see.

I wouldn't say however that one word is a measure of how good someone is at a language. Some are better at speaking than others, and some are better at writing/reading. It's what it is. I'm not good at either because I'm entirely self taught. Go figure.

Poetic as in no one would fucking say this ever in everyday life. It's a bunch obscure word usage to make it fit the character's style/personality/time period(?).

Anyway, this is the best I got for that unfinished sentence.

たとえ昨日現実に押し潰され闇の中であがいていたとしても、光に満ちた明日のために祈るのだ。(hikari ni michita ashita no tameni inorunoda)

"Supoosing that even if there are those who are writhing in the crushing darkness, (I) pray for a tomorrow filled with light"

See what I mean? It's because it's fantasy.

The shit in the back reads: 死の淵から闇を汲み、生の端境を彷徨うマリア。光さす道へと導き給え。(shi no fuchi kara wo kumi, sei no hazakai wo samayou maria. hikari sasu michi he to michibiki tamae)

"(This is) maria, who wanders [literally loiters] on the outer edges of life. [Talking to Maria] please lead the way to the path which pierces/embraces [I think it means embracing, although さす (sasu, stab) is used] light."

There you go.

Honestly. If you're going to permanently print something on your body in another languages A) learn the language so you're not as big a poser, or B) talk to someone who knows the language and can actually get you a translation that makes grammatical and actual sense (and would actually be said).

Okay dude, I just did a bunch of crap looking a character, and I don't think it exists. It's the one next to 細さ, and the closest I could find was 絨、which means wool cloth, but 絨毯 and 絨毯爆撃 "rug" and "carpet bombing", respectively.

This is gibberish. Did someone use google translate? Sorry I couldn't help you.

Anyway, here's the translation: "There's no winter... the snow and leafs piling up, the ??? that was made from (the/a) stripped (of bark) branch... The rut/wheel track/furrow that whenever (it) stepped it would (carefully) carve[?????].... Isn't anywhere (to be seen/found)."

Yeah. 刻むれるisn't even a word. Is it supposed to be 刻まれる?I suppose it is. Even with that change, it would become "the rut that whenever (it) stepped was gently/carefully carved," and that still doesn't make sense. Did you make this?

Anyway,

In Perfect Cherry Blossom, Letty has lavender eyes and curly lavender hair. She wears a blue and white dress with a white apron in front of it. At the top of her skirt that is a golden lapel resembling the alchemical symbol for silver. Also wears a white cap and a nearly transparent cape. She was described by ZUN as being "fairly tall."[2] In Hopeless Masquerade, she is seen with white trousers.

"If America were to attack North Korea without S Korea's consent (what would you do/support?)

This poll is asking Koreans who or what they would support if America had attacked N Korea with nukes. In the top right, it reads: Urging the threat of the North's nuclear weapons testing special report! Korea's take on nuclear usage"

Blue would support the destruction of NK, Gray the opportunity to attack Japan, and Red would help the NK [in no specified way, which could be scary]"

>>694234609

Well, it's using the alpahabet known as ローマ字 (romaji), which is literally "Roman letters." If you don't know hiragana and katakana, you can use romaji. The literal translation is 米(This actually means rice grains, but is also used to refer to america for some reason), 海 (ocean), 兵(soldier)隊(squad/corps), thus becoming "American Ocean Soldier Corps."

I took a couple of liberties with the pig rape scene. For example, おさまる (osamaru) can mean to be deliver, but it has three forms with different meanings. They are 収まる、納まる、治まる、修まる。We're using 収まる's first definition, which is "to be in one's place/installed (politics)/settle into." In Japanese, they'll do what Spanish people will do when they say "blah blah bla, no?," as in "is it not so?" Or when we go "isn't it?" Here they negated osamaru, and since it's all slangy and vulgar language, they made it into "osamaraneeya," which is like "Won't I place my dick into you?"

It's really slangy and no one speaks like that in the real world as far as I'm concerned (especially because this is fantasy sex), so it's nothing to be too concerned about.

Okay.

ツ is read as tsu, and it has no meaning. All the little NOT looking Chinese characters are what are called hiragana and katakana. They help build words and you can use the language without using the Chinese characters with just those two alphabets.

For example
私は食べます。
わたしはたべます。
"I (will) eat"

I know it all looks like Chinese characters to you, but if you read a little about Japanese, it would help you understand more what I was talking about.

This is all MY opinion:

I've been self studying from scratch for two years and if theres ANYTHING I learned, it's what materiel to use.

First off, Fuck Rosetta stone, it is the BIGGEST amount of snake oil you'll ever see.

Right now: Learn the kana, I know there was an android app that helped learn it with nmeonics and that was helpful, don't know the name. Also namasensei is handy due to his style

Grammar: Read barrons Grammarbook since it uses romaji and generally is a good book, even for reference.http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Grammar-Barrons-Series/dp/0764120611

There are PDF's floating around.

Watch this youtube serieshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0kU2cc85ZA

It's an oldie but a goodie

As for textbooks: Use Human Japanese, its on mobile or buy the box version online. Another good textbook is Genki but it's more for classroom but you'll still get something out of it. Or hell, just Youtube it.

Get the gist of all those, One regret I did is grind 6,000 flash cards with the Anki deck (Core2k/6K) Learn it WITH the kanji, The vocab is based on Kanji, if you know that one kanji, you'll know a piece of that vocab, Like when you know a word based on it's letters and not how the word itself looks.

Use WaniKani, It's good. Its the most efficient way of learning. Do it AS SOON as you're comfortable. I can't stress this enough.

A supplement would be the Anki decks but Memrise is nice too for the vocab (Since you still need to know a lot of the common ones regardless)

DelvinLanguage for all of your listening needs. FluentU is limited and it pays, DL does not.

It's a stool of Kanji/Vocab, Listening, and Grammar. Do something for each of those simultaneously. Be efficient in this time and you'll be amazed at what a year or two will do.

がんばって!!!

Its easier than english. Take this for example from the other guy who posted this

Look at the last and third last characters. They have the same radical. With chinese the you know the easier it is to remember other characters as well. With English it's a combination of the 26 alphabetical characters. Sure there are similarities in he way english is spelt, but theres no telling how many there are.

我已经实习完毕,现在有几件事情需要尽快解决
I already finished my studies. Now there is some things that needs to be addressed.
中国語を学んでから帰国しましたが、言いたいことがあります。

Top is Chinese, bottom is Japanese. Both have the same meaning. Which looks harder and more difficult to write between the two? I can even communicate the same senetnce in Japanese without the Chinese characters.

ちゅうごくごをまなんでからきこくしましたが、いいたいことがあります。

Not a game of which is better, but you can read Japanese with just knowing above a thousand characters or none at all in fact (but that's hard; most an average adult should know is around 2200) while Chinese has like, what, a lot more that you have to learn. The history of Japanese in the beginning was an attempt to simply Chinese, and with that came Japan's own writing system that greatly reduced the required amount still used in China today. But with that came a new language, and I've been using it to help perverts and long lost tea box makers alike in this thread.
