Standard procedure since you could easily pull it and start shooting when they walk back to their vehicle to run you for warrants and make sure your car isn't stolen. I hand over docs, he sits in car checking my papers while i wait.
Cop comes out of car tells me to slow it down, hands me docs, glock and mag.
I say "thanks officer, i will" and then i drive home just under posted speed.

I have been pulled over 3 times in my truck and once on my motorcycle and never once did I mention the fact that I had a gun and license to carry. The cop doesn't need to know and once you tell them you have surrendered your 4th amendment rights. The officer will then "take the weapon for their safety" even though you have as much of a right to have the gun as they do. Keep your mouth shut unless required to tell an officer.
