So /b/, planning on buying a gaming pc, prebuilt, made a thread yesterday and got awesome recommendations and such, i just wanna make sure all my specs are okay by you guys, i plan on getting the htc vive so i need a pretty decent rig.

i know i can build the pc alone for much less money, but buying it prebuilt guarrantees i wont fuck it up, and won't have to wait as long for the individual items, i am a new to building computers, budget is kind of tight, i already used up another 500$, totalling to the price to 1767$

specs:
processor: Intel i7-6700 3.4Ghz(4.0Ghz Turbo) Skylake LGA1151 Tray

processor cooler: Arctic Cooling Alpine 11 Rev. 2

motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H for 1151

case: Ippon Falcon ATX + FSP HYPER 600W
the case can be changed if needed, got a variety of cases to choose from

case cooler:two Xclio 256 Colour LED Quiet Fan 120mm with Smart Controller

psu: Antec 650W Modular 80+ Bronze NE650M
was told that the psu is shitty aswell, can be changed, just ask for the list i can pick and i will supply

ram: DDR4 16G 2133Mhz CL15 Kingston

graphics card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming VR Ready GV-N1070G1 Gaming-8GD

hdd: WD 1TB Sata3 Caviar Blue 1TB Platter
pretty much wont need more than a terrabyte

ssd: Kingston SSD 240GB SSDNow UV400 SATA3 SUV400S37/240G

sound card: USB To 3.5mm Jack Audio + Mic 2.1 Converter

whats your opinion b/ros?
>>
Looks good, P.S. thanks for posting a normal thread on 4chan!
>>
You'll fuck shit up with that set up
>>
Looks pretty good. However if you arent going to be multi tasking programs, i7 is a little overkill. You could save some money by getting an i5 instead.
>>
>>693792115
Yeah, its a shame /b is now filled with shitposts 24/7, also the reply or your mother will die shit
>>
>>693792303
well, i plan on connecting another monitor, also vive requires minimum an i5, i thought why not be safe and get an upgrade, the extra speed shouldnt hurt
>>
>>693792277
care to explain?
>>
>>693791834
why not build it yourself? its way more fun and not actually hard at all...
>>
>>693791834
get a beefier power supply
>>
>>693792303
This, fairly sure that something like an i5 6600k will suit you so long as you aren't planning on doing some ridiculously cpu intensive shit.
>>
>>693792483
i know it is mate, its just too much expensive for me to fuck it up, if it was a 500$ rig maybe, never built one either, so it might be a hassle, if i buy it prebuilt, i get all the worries out and also i can get it in divided payments instead of the 1700$ all at once
>>
I'd get a Noctua NH-D15 and an MSI1070 gaming X instead. Much quieter. A Semi-passive PSU as well. Otherwise decent.
>>
>>693792558
ill look into that, either way i already wasted alot of money, why not waste a tad more on a better cpu, i like things fast
>>
>>693792762
well, i know invidia is pretty good with their stuff mostly, also the features that come with it, i rather not risk it and get something i wont like, thanks for the suggestion though
>>
>>693792497
ive been told a 650 one will do the job, should i go for a 700 one or an 800?, why does it matter
>>
>>693792886
nvidia*, sorry
>>
>>693792781
Fair enough, I mean if you're not particularly budget conscious then overall it's really not a major drama.

Difference between the 2 is only about £100 from what I can tell, I'm planning on building a new pc soon but I'm not looking to spend thousands so things like that I don't want to splash out on for something that won't make a huge difference.
>>
I would just look at reviews for the 1070, I read from amazon reviews saying that the (pretty sure its the Gigabyte?) Gigabyte 1070s have coil whine under normal loads. i ended up going for the EVGA SC 1070. currently waiting for my build to arrive

will Antec TP-750C 750 Watts of Continuous Power do the job?

1 Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64bit OEM DVD

>>693793344
Just lookup the card you want and go to sites that would have reviews to see if the card has any complaints
>>
>>693791834
good shit nigger, although id get b150 not h110 if i were you
oh and id also get the i7 6700 in the box with a cooler not a tray since you won't be overclocking it anyway

this is my perfect build, although 650w is overkill as shit, get a corsair cx 500
>>
>>693793477
750W is overkill dude, these days computers don't use as much power as a couple of years ago.
>>
>>693793477
i mean, the case will absorb the sound a bit, and i assume if i keep the pc at leg height, i shouldn't hear any noise, i can always get a noise insulating case aswell if its a big bother
>>
>>693792497
fuckin autist that build would do fine with 450 watts faggot, remove yourself please
>>
>>693792929
If not enough power, some things might not work because lack of wattage

some people say to upgrade the psu, others say its an overkill, thats the thing that makes it hard to decide, sadly me buying a prebuilt my options are pretty limited to what i can choose to put in it, the only one without a tray is this Intel Core i7 6700 / 1151 Box which costs slightly more is that the one?, about the motherboard will this suffice? Gigabyte GA-B150M-D2V

Well not agaisnt a prebuilt just rather do it myself as i wont fuck it up. A lot of times when you get a deal on a prebuilt they skimped somewhere. A lot of times its the psu id make sure the psu is decent quaility cause skimping on a pau is never a good idea.
>>
>>693792446

OP as fuck, it's a warstation he's building
>>
>>693793783
im sure if they wouldn't work the company i am using wouldn't include them in the list, either way when they finish building it they probably give it checkups to make sure everything is okay, i doubt things would not work and if so its under warranty
>>
this thing should last me what, 6 years?, i am not that into graphics and more into story and gameplay, dont mind running games on low/medium either
>>
>>693793999
checked

actually doesn't matter how big of a powersupply you get if its above the minimum requirement. the bigger the wattage the better the efficiency, and also future proofing

it doesn't matter as long as you don't buy a 1000w powersupply for 150$ for a system that needs only 300 watts (like your current one)

also when getting a motherboard the only thing that matters pretty much is the feature list. i suggested b150 because it has more features than the usual h110 chipset mobos. and the motherboard you linked wouldn't work, it has a ddr3/ddr3L memory technology

i suggest Asus B150-pro, it has tons of features and a shitton of fan headers if you need them, its alot cheaper than a z170 and just a little more expensive than h110s
>>
>>693794443
almost quads damn
how do you know how much wattage is needed?, like what part/s determines how much wattage is needed, also i am getting a ddr4 ram stick, wont it interfere with the ddr3/ddr3l memory thingy?

i am a pretty big noob, sorry
>>
>>693794622
use pcpartpicker.com and it will give you a wattage approximation
>>
>>693794945
awesome, thanks
>>
>>693794243
Also the problem is chip core quality, it dosent matter how many cores you have what matters is how fast each core is. Thats not even a k series good luck over clocking.
>>
>>693794622
the motherboard you linked was incompatible with the ram you have in your OP
the b150-pro from asus is very suitable for your build and fully compatible

an intel quad core with a single GPU is rarely gonna consume more than 300 watts under full load from the wall, but for novice pc builders its a much safer bet to just get a high wattage psu, as it really doesn't matter

if its advertised as a 700w psu then it means that it has the peak power of 700w, if its running idle it will probably consume around 50-150w from the wall

also it finds the cheapest price for each part you choose
>>
>>693795005
>r how many cores you have what matters is how fast each core is. Th
i don't really plan overclocking, i am pretty fine with what i have now as most of the hardware here is new
>>
>>693794981
>>693794945
this isn't fully accurate, and you should always leave headroom (if it says 300 watts, get 450-600w)
>>
>>693795100
i plan on upgrading my pc when needed, so i can have the b150 and not change anything about my build?

stupid question but i need an hdmi port for the vive, does the motherboard have those connection?
>>
>>693795212
Honestly itll last you, i would as gamer plan for vr your video card should be more than enough to support vr.

>>693795219
you fucking dickhead
>>
>>693795346
the hdmi port for the vive will plug into your graphics card, respectively your GTX 1070.

and yes, if intel won't be cunts and stay on LGA 1151 for a few more generations then yes, you will be able to easily swap out your cpu and throw in another graphics card

but you won't need to upgrade for atleast 5 years, and there isn't a pc in the world that will be upgrade-able in 5 years
>>
>>693795635
so i swapped the mobo for b150, anything else?
>>
>>693795847
really?, interesting, not even ram or hard disk?, im guessing that wont count
>>
>>693796004
>>693795899
i doubt that hard disks will be around as they are today

also with the B150-pro motherboard you can put in a m.2 SSD which is much more faster than a regular Sata SSD that you have

and yes, PC building world evolves quickly

but i wouldn't worry about what happens in 5 years, if your hard drive of 4GBs fails, there are probably gonna be 4gb SSDs that cost the same as 4gb hdds nowadays in 5 years
>>
>>693795899
nah ur setup is pretty much good now, it also doesn't matter that much what case and powersupply you get performance wise

if u plan keeping the pc for a long time id invest in a more expensive psu so it looks good in your room
>>
>>693796505
>if u plan keeping the pc for a long time id invest in a more expensive psu so it looks good in your room

more expensive case not psu, my bad
>>
>>693791834
Might use it too, do you have a full cost?
>>
>>693795100
oh i see...

i searched for the asus ones, heres what i got

Asus B150M-A
D3 Asus B150M-A
Asus B150M-C
Asus B150M-PLUS
Asus B150 Pro Asus
B150 Pro Gaming

will any of these do?, should i get the gaming one?
>>
>>693791834
You can also choose a mix between prebuilt and selfbuilt, which is choosing the parts yourself and paying an online or retail shop a fee to build it for you
It's pisseasy to build it yourself though, so unless a few hours of your time is worth more than 30-80 bucks it's not really worth it
>>
>>693791834
>Antec PSU
>Not having a Z170 motherboard

Jesus
>>
>>693794622
I'm currently running a i5 4690k and a r9 280, plus two HDDs, a SSD, an audiocard, and the usual gaming peripherals, on 450w
People generally recommend too beefy power supplies, 500w is plenty for a single gpu setup
>>
>>693796583
technically no, i got mine prebuilt, so i cant really give out a price for you, you might want to add it to pcpartpicker and it will give you the best prices for everything, keep in mind you need to switch the motherboard as people said

if you are curious about the price for me its 1767$ with the old mobo
>>
>>693796591
if u like how it looks, its pretty much the same shit

looks like it might have a little higher build quality, so i guess its more expensive

>>693796769

>>

>ISHYDDTG
what do you mean by extra psu?
>>
>>693796591
so i guess ill go with the Asus B150M-PLUS or the Asus B150 Pro Asus

thanks for the help man, i appreciate it
>>
>>693797107
Your case got a (cheap) psu included (judging by the name) but you also plan on buying an Antec 650w one.
>>
>>693792693

>>
>>693797248
no problem

>>
>>693791834
Cut down on that ram and use some of that extra money to just bump up to a 1080 already. You know you want the 1080 just do it.
>>
>>693797532
wouldn't suggest it for future proofing purposes

1080 is not worth the money, plus if you get only 8gb, you're gonna need 16gb later, and it's gonna be a pain to find another ram module that's exactly like your other one so you can go dual channel
>>
>>693797345
well, im getting the operating system installed, thats another 103$, im also paying for faster shipping

>>693797960
i am buying windows 10, and they are installing it on the way, the one i am installing costs 119$, i am getting it for 103$ including installation, pretty good in my book
>>
>>693798240
>$103
can't you just bring your nerdy friend home once the set built, then tell him to make your OS looks legit.

even cracked 7 could gave you original windows 10 now.
>>
nothing wrong with pre built, as long as you're picking the parts to go inside. The only downsides to having it assembled for you is that it will cost more money, because you're paying for the guy's time to put it together, sort out the software and possibly overclock it if that's what you wanted

SSDs are a meme and an i7 is overkill for computer games, i5 is good enough

water cooler is god tier for quiet, efficient cooling
>>
I'd call you a nigger for not being able to install an OS but you're actually buying the PC instead of stealing it from a school library or some shit.
>>
>>693798448
its too much of a bother for me, also ive been on windows for more than 7 years, i wanna support them for once
