>>
>>693629625
Give yourself 16gb ram and you have a decent rig mate
>>
Price Limit?
>>
>>693629873
this is not for video editing mate, im a pretty big scrub when it comes to computer knowledge but to my information you don't need more than 8 for games the vive alone is just 4
>>
>>693629982
Youre really wrong
>>
>>693629948
the whole rig costs 1277$, i can spare another 128 if needed, maybe more, just give me the stuff, ill ignore the price for now
>>
>>693630103
well lets ignore the ram for now mate, i can always upgrade it later on
>>
>>693629625
I'd go for >=16 gigs of ram.
I wouldn't skimp so much on the Motherboard and PSU.
Would suffice though I guess. It's just a really levelheaded build.
>>
>>693629982
That assumption is out of date. There are gamins arriving that can make use of more than 8gb ram. Ram is so cheap these days there really isnt any reason to only get 8gb
>>
>>693629836
wtf is someone who isnt doing video production/editing or HEAVY programming gonna do with an i7?
>>693629873
this, Im a power user but not a video editor and i fill 8gbs crazy quickly. if youre hosting an MC server off your comp while playing/have a lot of tabs and programs&games open at the same time youll regret not getting more. Trust me
>>
>>693629982
Youre really wrong
CS Go, been out for however many years needed 8 gb of ram to run

Another point is actual ram isnt the same as practical ram. Your computers not going to dedicate all 8Gb of your ram to your games
>>
>>693629873
this

and if some extra money, go for i7
>>
>>693630206

Also, do pay attention you got enough case cooling for dem games.
>>

what are you, 14 years old?
>>
>>693630256
What are you talking. Runs easily on 32 bit systems with 100+ fps on full.
>>
>>693630237
i am not hosting a server, also i can limit its ram usage, either way the vive said its a minimum i5, so i wanted to be extra sure it will all run smooth and get a 7, either way its faster performance
>>
>>693630281
so an i7 and 16 ram and im set?, nothing to change or something, will the heat be okay?
>>
>>693630377
dont judge me based on the games i play, i just like to spend time on them, its not like i am playing farmville

so far ive only seen recommendations to add 16 gigs of ram and an i7, anything else i want to change/upgrade bros?
>>
>>693630633
As I said PSU and Motherboard are low budget. No good starting point for a long-lasting PC (and you really don't want to replace MoBo and/or PSU, more like the GPU.).
For cooling you need at least 2 case coolers, dunno what your case offers. They are about dunno $20 a piece if you buy good ones.
>>
>>693630633
Realistically get an i7 if you can afford to fork it up. Same with the ram. Rams cheap and easy to install yourself so dont threat about it

Otherwise seems like a pretty decent build, assuming your case isnt some micro tower shouldnt over heat unless youre a dumb ass and try to over clock your processor

I honestly dont know that much about VR, but I do know that its HEAVILY gpu intensive not cpu. An i5 is more than enough for anything a gamer can throw at it, ive got an i5-4690k with TONS of stuff open at all times and never really go above 40% usage.

I have every joystick you can imagine, and Car racing / drifting in VR is the dream. I also dont have much room. So sitting still in a car fits me well.

haha i see mate, well goodluck with that, for some reason i developed a fear from heat, i had a computer a year ago that really would overheat really easily, i burnt parts a few times, you think a stock cooler would do fine or will it hurt to add a few extra protective measures?

hes selecting from a prebuilt site so his options are limited to whatevers in the dropdowns they provide. he also wont have to worry about applying thermal compound or anything since it is prebuilt.

Why don't you want to build your own rig in the first place?

You have so many options to get the help you need. You have sites that let you see if everything fits together and is compatible.

You need to start somewhere if you want do upgrades yourself too. There are dozens of youtube channels dedicated to helping you with the building, you can learn everything and there are places like 4chan / linustechtips /tomshardware / etc... forums that will help you with everything you may ask for.

Also remember for Skylake you want to get DDR4 memory.

IT guy here,

Depending on where you place your computer you might want to switch your CPU Fan.

Most standard Intel fans make a fuckton of sound when you're gaming due to the heat.

Arctic is okay though, I think I have a Coolmaster?

The sound difference is noticeable.

Furthermore crank up the ram to 12 or 16.

Double check if you have enough case fans.
2 or 3 should suffice imho, the cheap ones are good enough.

If you NEVER want to change your fans due dust e.d., just be lazy and grab metal ones. They're like 15 euro's ea over here.

Dust filters are never worth it, don't get them.

Do yourself a favor up front, and buy some cooling paste with it, and remove the one that is on it now and switch it out with the bought one.

If you could be bothered, do the same with your GPU.

If lazy and you have a good amount of space left in your room, consider buying a bigger casing so installing / repairing/ cleaning is easier.

Idk, I think that's all I got.

In all honesty I didn't want to buy a PS4 to play NMS.
Giving sony any money at all is simply not an option.

Hope you enjoy your computer dude but I'd seriously get a faster processor tho.

Regards~

I am building a PC myself right now.
I was thinking about the following specs:
i7-6700 (K for OC, non-K if no OC, but both get you HyperThreading)
ASUS Z170-A (if not i7-6700K ASRock Fatal1ty H170 Performance because no OC)
Fractal Design Define S (or R5, but I do not really need CD/DVD)
Corsair CX750M
Kingston HyperX Fury DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-2133, CL14-14-14, single rank (HX421C14FB2K2/16)
Samsung Evo 850 250GB SSD
Nanoxia Deep Silence NDS 140 PWM x4 (1 bot, 2 top, 1 back)
+ Chose any graphics card.

As the CPU is the part you don't need to switch every 2 - 3 years (like the GPU) I would say going for an i7-6700 would be the best choice.
You get HyperThreading for +100$ compared to an i5-6500.

I did not think about this with my current PC (6 - 7 years old).
If I would have thought this way and bought QuadCore instead of a E8400 2x3.00 DualCore I could still play many games I can't play anymore.
But back (this was the time QuadCores showed up) then I thought "no game supports 4 cores and I do not think this will happen soon".
I stopped playing games on this PC more than 2 years ago, even though I switched out the GPU for a better one and the HDD for an SSD.

If you invest more into a CPU right now, you save yourself extra money for sooner getting a new CPU + a new motherboard for the new socket to fit in your new CPU.

I wouldn't buy a graphics card which costs more than 350$, as this seems to be the point where you need to invest much more to get a slightly better graphics card.

I would suggest getting the r9 390 over the 970. You also don't really need an i7 for gaming, use that saved money to move up a gpu tier or two.

Forgot one thing:
For everyone who wants to take some time to read about placement of your fans, here is a link to a site which tested various fan placement ranging from 2 fans up to 7 fans in different positions.

This is a german site, but you only need to look at the pictures, as they have colored the fan placement + the temperatures they measured on CPU and GPU.
