You are very right, unfortunately crime is highly glorified in music/films, and whether people want to admit it or not, those two things have a very strong influence on young minds.

The "no snitching" thing exists as a code of the streets, which means if you live by that code, you shouldn't sell out another person that does the same dirt you're doing, just so that you can get off with a slap on the wrist or reduce your sentence. Many street people understand that that code only applies to other crooks, but not to civilians who aren't in the game, but some criminals think it should apply to everyone and they threaten upstanding citizens with that bullshit.

On the same hand, cops do this shit too when they frown upon another cop that reports a fellow officer's wrongdoing, or when cops don't lie for them when they fuck up.

It's a very fucked up code of "us first, even if we're wrong" and it doesn't only apply to blacks. There's just many ignorant motherfuckers that wear a t-shirt about it.

I hear you though, but that's part of the cycle. I see that being discussed as well where black people make other black people feel inadequate for speaking properly or trying to better themselves; but that's one of two things, either the other person is mad to see someone else doing better, so they wish to bring them down, or they truly are so ignorant that they believe that being educated and well-off cannot be part of them while also remaining wholesome to their culture/race
