The foal died from the mother trampling over her. He felt sorry for it and buried it. The mother, shocked by the burial, tried to dig up the baby. My character then took her by the scruff, threw her against the house, dug a hole, and buried her up to her neck in the icy snow and dirt. It was a charming thing to write.
