Exactly what I said, masculinity or femininity. If you're built, have a beard and abs and shit then you're usually identifying as male. If you're lanky, have long hair and wear makeup or wear things that are considered "female" then you identify as female. "Traps" and "Cross dressers" are just closeted transgender people.
It's best to just not assume though. I just call everybody "Dude" and not worry about their gender or just don't use pronouns until I know their preference. It doesn't directly affect me so I don't worry about what other people want to be.
