I had roots in hendrix and zeppelin, and it took me forever to get into zappa. It almost seems that you need to get into jazz to appreciate zappa, or maybe it was just a coincidence. One size fits all is what got me into zappa, don't like a lot of his later solo stuff. Waka/jawake, and the grand wazoo are really good if you like jazz.

It's weird to say because when I was a teen I never would have imagined this could be true, but I honestly think we're living in the greatest generation for music so far. If you can find it, there's amazing shit out there for anyone's taste. Guess that's the beauty of the internet era, if you can think of it, someone's out there trying to do it.
