A few reasons.

1) I'm not ugly, but nor am I conventionally attractive either. Therefore, I have to make all the effort myself to pull, 'cos generally speaking, the ladies don't go for average looking guys.

2) I'm 5ft.10 and just under 100lbs in weight. Basically skeletor mode. This is a major turn off for a lot of people. Not only does it look odd to some people, but others are visibly disgusted by my body.

3) I'm fussy. Now, it's not like I don't get on with a lot of people - in fact, I get on with 99% of the people I meet - but I feel like making a genuine connection with very few of those people. I tend to assume that people won't actually be worth my time getting to know, 'cos we won't have similar interests and such.

And lastly, and most importantly:

4) Crippling self doubt. I essentially don't understand why anyone would find me attractive, or would want to be with me in a non-platonic sense. This means that not only do I convince myself that no-one I meet is interested in me, but that any and all attempts I make at hitting on or flirting with people are simply never worth bothering with, because why would they be interested in you, you skinny-worthless-geeky-druggo-autistic-freakshow?
