Most of the hate is coming from the fact that its a beloved franchise, and it seems that if the studio, writers, and directors are going to apply a bunch of changes to what was a winning formula. It may change for the worse.

Kate McKinnon is quite funny, and Kristen Wig has been able to shine with even decent writing.
Most of my worries are with the other two. Melissa McCarthy who is overused and through either writing or just bad acting, ends up the same character in almost all of her films.
I'm also not convinced with Leslie Jones. She either has very little range or allows herself to be written into a stereotypical loud sassy black lady role 95% of the time just screaming her lines at the audience.
