It's why Bloodraven dies in a vision. It's why Hodor became nothing but a doorstop. It's exactly why Benjen brought him back to the Wall. Once Bran gets to the wall, the spell of the Wall will be broken, the White Walkers can bust through, and then the whole ending of GoT will happen.

The King commits suicide.

Cersei has herself crowned Queen.

Arya kills Walder Frey.

We finally confirm Jon Snow's parentage (ice and fire :O ?)

Jon Snow becomes the King in the North.

Daenerys FINALLY sails for Westeros.

And yet at the end of it I felt like nothing much had happened. There was nothing that made me want to cheer or cry. And the music at the beginning seemed out of place - does GoT have pianos? I don't even give a shit about what Daenerys does in Westeros. I hope she falls off a dragon and dies. The only things I'm interested in from this episode are 1) Olenna Tyrell's revenge, which could be awesome and 2) Jon Snow leading another whole-episode-long battle on the Wall, this time against White Walkers and wights.

About the cold though, I thought that at the time, but have to assume the NW know what sort of decomposition to expect.

Also, I forgot: nothing else ate the body either. You would expect wolves to nibble on it unless they hadn't had a chance to find it yet, but it was untouched except by Ghost.

Personally I just watch the show for entertainment....most of the shit they're doing now will be very different from how the story is supposed to pan out according to GRRM so I await the books (May the old gods give GRRM extended life so that we may actually get the finished product) The show has become generic TV dribble now that they don't have the books as a guide for the script. They just keep trying to throw in Martin style shock with none of his mastery for the art.....Instead of relying on the true genius of his work which is the plotting and character development they just keep going for the wow factor which has more or less ruined the show for me now. Though I will continue to watch because I do find it's still better than most things out there....but it could have been great

Let's put it this way, in the show the sand snakes just came in and killed Martel and his son, claiming the thrown for their own.
In the Books, the sand snakes are locked away, along with his daughter (Not Appearing in the show) Martel is a nicely developing character at this stage, playing the game of thrones as it were and secretly plotting his revenge against the Lannisters. There is far more substance and purpose for the Martel family in the books and it isn't utilised in the show (either by lack of knowledge given to the writers or to speed things along)

It's like the show writers thought how are we going to shock everyone once again and get people to say "wow I didn't see that coming at all" rather than build up a nice storyline which eventually falls into place with the rest of the Westerosi political storyline. I understand the show needs to cut things out to be more cost and time efficient but they seem to destroy things rather than take them and move them along at a quicker pace
