All of my hard drives have died at some point or another, and they've all been Seagate. Thing is... it usually takes 7-8 years of abuse and before my motherboard shit itself, I was still booting from a 20 year old Seagate PATA that had been reformatted dozens of times and moved through several computers. I assume the "abuse" part of it comes into play, too. Shutting down/restarting a few times a day and such is pretty rough on the equipment. I've also heard people say they've never clicked a mouse to death or worn out a keyboard, but I used to go through them every couple years... especially back in the insomniac MMO days when I was literally playing and typing for 20 hours a day all year
