I worked at a local restaurant like this for about a year.

We had a kids menu with very cheap prices because that was roughly how much it would cost us to make the food, so no profit was made from kids food. This is why restaurants have age limits on kids menus.

We had maybe three or four times (while I was on shift) that adults would try to order off the kids menu, usually in a joking way and then they put in a real order. I had one guy that was just being stubborn but didn't seem autistic, since he only wanted a grilled cheese or something that wasn't on the regular menu.

tl;dr Most restaurants make zero profit off kids menus so they don't serve them to customers they could make profits off of. Since it's a business after all.

My whole point was, in all my replies... The kids menu doesnt (in most cases) by itself make money for the restaurant. Its a loss leader, it entices large families to dine there. But they are going to order twice the appetizers, refills on drinks, probably bring grandma or uncle with them, and come back if the service is good. Good customer service isnt letting every shrivel dick 24 year old get his way. Thats BAD for business. Good customer service is catering to those people who would make good repeat customers, which is GOOD for business.
