A second referendum to vote again?

Hey britfags, what's up with that shit? A british gentleman should accept the result of a democratic vote.

Or are you going to vote until the results are like you want them?

Seriously, you fags piss me off. First you want your decision, then you get it, then you are butthurt and want to redo all the shit.

You're out, stay out.
>>
I'm a Brit, I never wanted the decision, and the decision was made by basically half of the population who are old delusional almost dead people.
>>
>>691480058
well doesn't that suck?

a decision is a decision. it means your half of the population just sucked to explain the EU and convince the other half.

That's called evolution Darwin. The weak and failures are sorted out.

Democracy = Good.
Lies and misleading = Bad.
The point is the Leave [the EU] side has suddenly WITHDRAWN ITS PROMISES; one instance being the 350million pounds we send the the EU every year being reinvested into our National Health Service (NHS - which is FREE for all you backwards fucking shit tier countries), this promise has now been revoked.
That's why a second referendum is justified. That's why we should have remained in the EU
>>
Apparently most a brits didn't even know what the EU was. Fucking retards.

I was under the impression the vote was anonymous.

Anyone who voted leave based on what campaigners say and not their own research have themselves to blame.

I did the research, had a think about it and voted leave. Surely kicking the tories up the arse is enough to secure the NHS. Oh and not forgetting keeping fuck knows how many health care leeching immigrants out.

I fucking hate current "labour", wanting to kick corbyn out would be the biggest mistake they can make. He's the only man that can save labour for the lower class
>>
>>691481148
Could you please provide a source for this. I have not seen where voters have provided their demographic on their ballot paper.

All I have seen are yougov polls which are vastly under represented
>>
It doesn't need another referendum.

Having a referendum in the first place was a dumb fucking idea - and I say this regardless of the outcome, most people don't know jack shit about the consequences of what they're voting over and are going based on whatever the catchiest headline they read in the Sun was.

I guarantee you of all the people who voted, both for leaving and remaining, most had no real fucking clue why besides some empty rhetoric they'd overheard that had formed their opinion.
>>
A referendum is not binding on a Parliament.

That being said, the best way to "ignore" the vote is to agree a EEA treaty with the EU like Norway.

so dont really see the point of a second referendum.

I'm pretty sure any of the demographic inferences are going based off of polling information, which isn't perfect but close enough for you to draw conclusions.

So you're right, we don't know with 100% certainty that people of all age demographics didn't do a classic switcheroo at the last minute, but it's a pretty strong guess.
>>
>>691479722
The only people who wanted the referendum were the vote leavers.

We have a representative democracy. We vote in our leaders to make important decisions. This is because the majority of people in our country are poorly educated, xenophobic mugs. Those of us with an education didn't want a referendum.

This should go without saying. Why would people who wanted to stay ask for a referendum on whether you should leave? It just turned out that it was a majority of the voting population were vote leavers.

I still agree on the premise that we have a representative democracy for a reason and that it was stupid to have a referendum, though.

>as I expect the result to be the same

Highly unlikely. Leaving had an immediate negative feedback (the pound dropping) which, regardless of whether you think longer term exit will be beneficial and it was just a brief market scare, is enough to sway people.
Shit like the blowout from Brexit is practically like administering an electric shock to a labrat for casting an exit ballot. It won't sway the determined brexit voters, but it'll sway anyone who was on the fence / had no real clue and were voting on a whim (which shouldn't be underestimated).

>>
>>691482876

I didn't realize the polling data was that small, considering they'd been doing them for months and the polls weren't too far off the mark for the actually outcome.

If that's true and the age of voters statement is just going off a 1600 person poll then you're right, it's not representative.
>>
>>691482864
Immigration levels will not change. Voting because of immigration just means your constituency is dumb af
>>
>>691482864
this

people dont find immigration but the inequality of income between rich and poor means that its the poor that face the consequences when things go wrong once in a while..a drunk driver...mugger...general twat etc...

the benefits of immigration are enjoyed by the rich and the costs borne by the poor. this is why most poorfags shot themselves in the foot by voting to brexit.

We won fair and square. It was a democratic vote of the people and the people voted to leave. Anybody who demands a redo is pissing all over democracy because it just didn't happen to go in their favour this time. Those people want to dismiss the will of the majority because they believe they know better. Democracy is wonderful until it doesn't go their way. It doesn't matter who was stupid or intelligent, who was old or who was young, rich or poor, black or white, man or woman, democracy spoke and for the sake and protection of the democratic ways it must be acted upon.

Here it was announced that bedroom tax had kicked 1000 single people from their homes. A week later it was announced that our council could accommodate 1000 immigrant family's.

Along with the high unemployment that they're making worse.

People voted leave as more of a vote against current government underhand policies than actual immigration

There are people who know better than me. They all said remain as well. Everyone who had any business knowing what would be good for the country said remain. The fact that I agree is fairly inconsequential.

They're too stupid to listen to the what the economists and business leaders told them. They thought with their C at GCSE maths that they knew better than every leader in economics and business in the country. If they ignored that why would I make any difference?

>>
>>691482139
I see, it is beyond useless. Say the remain option wins this time around, it isn't likely to be by a large margin, are they going to have a best out of three final referendum after? This is democracy as a joke, if people couldn't be bothered to vote in the first place or they changed their minds within 24 hours though. And I mean this as someone who does think that both Brits and the world are better off with the UK in the EU. It may be British as fuck but this needing a second chance to make up your mind is retarded. The EU wants the UK out as soon as can be arranged, even if Merkel is being characteristically "reasonable," and so do probably most economists, fucking uncertainty kills markets.

This isn't about the opinions of some angry unemployed bloke in Hampshire or the feelings of some old lady in Manchester who's racist towards Poles. It's the fucking global economy that's at stake here. For better or for worse the Brits made their choice, now it's time to make sure those who didn't actually get a chance to vote don't have to pay too high a price for decissions made by others.

It was only a referendum. Not a legally binding vote.

It gave the politicians an insight into what the poeple wanted. An alien concept in plutocratic nations such as USA where the people's will is utterly sidelined by corporate interests.

The Uk does not have to leave the EU at all. I mean, they probably will as soon as borgia johnson gets nominated (haha, I take back everything I said about britain being democratic) but the referendum was just a poll, forced upon the tories so they could sway undecided far right voters clever enough to see through Farage's bullshit and thus consolidate their power in the last GE.

Godwin's law? Are you admitting defeat?

There is a reason people qualify for various positions. I like to know that my doctor has done a medical degree. I like to know my accountant has done an accountancy degree.

I believe the system you are implying was originally proposed by Plato. Plato's guardians or something. It's been a while since I studied philosophy.

I'm suggesting that we vote in people who are qualified to make political decisions. And if we don't like them we can vote again every, let's say for argument, 5 years? That way everyone has a say and can hold their (let's call them representatives) to account. Maybe we could call it a representative democracy?

Or would you suggest we go back to classical times and have a direct democracy?

No-one wants a second referendum. No-one who isn't a whiny loser. Europe is a shithole. The continent that brought you fascism, nazism, communism. Hitler, Napoleon, the French revolution. Mussolini. Legal incest. Legal bestiality. Angela Merkels miserable face. Unlimited Islam. Leaders like fucking Berlusconi and midget Frenchmen who wear platform shoes to make impotent speeches and are married to former slut models whose family members died of AIDS. Shitty queer techno-pop music worse than Japanese nuclear afflicted kawaii screamo bands. Capital cities packed with thieving gypsies and Africans trying to force you to wear their €25 euro bracelets. Train services where you can't sit down without some Albanian coming up to your table and trying to sell you a plastic watch from a Kinder egg for €25. Useless police who are afraid to touch an Islamic extremist with an AK-47 in case they get sued. Europe is pathetic. Europe is a joke. The idea of a pan European army is ridiculous. Turks fighting alongside Greeks will happen when hell freezes over. The idea of European countries co-operating and helping each other in some incredible union is really reflected by Germany's demands upon Greece and Europe's threats to the UK leading up to and after we voted.

The EU is pathetic. The EU is dead. If you've ever been to Brussels where all of your laws are decided you'll notice how many Muslims there are walking right over once meaningful war memorials, how many are sitting at the foot of Christian churches shaking tins at you as though you owe them and how many of them give you dirty looks because they hope to one day exterminate you in yet more attacks upon European and Western cities. I hope that Sweden and the Netherlands see sense and leave. I hope that Denmark votes out. I wish good luck to Greece.

There is a good reason why they wanted out of the EU and young people like you in all your ignorance chose to overlook the their knowledge.

The EU is on its knees anyway ONLY UK and Germany were paying cash IN ! The next round of bail-outs is Greece , Italy , Portugal and Spain ! How the fuck can this carry on ? The UK's debit is increasing by MILLIONS of pounds an HOUR (1,600,000,000,000 - YES 1.6 TRILLION currently and going UP about 170 BILLION a year !) yet we are still expected to pay for Greek pensions and Spanish roads ? France will leave next followed by Germany. Watch RT instead of the hopelessly BIASED BBC !!! Germany regularly has rioting on the streets. Massive strikes and rioting all over France. Even if we did go back in to the EU what happens when Germany pulls out ? We pay for everything ? We simply hand over container loads of cash to unelected faceless burocrats to distribute as they see fit ? Your pensions are already sold and all the money your paying into the system might at BEST give your childrens children a pittance of a pension. It was an experiment but the bureaucrats simply got too greedy and powerful and ultimately fucked it up. ITS OVER , IT DID NOT WORK , LET IT DIE.
All you London wank stains seem to care about is the "CITY" ie. Banking ? Well Switzerland seem to do OK , they have the highest standard of living in the civilized world , IT NEVER WAS IN EU !!! IT NEVER HAD EURO !!! Guess what , it is the real banking capital of the fucking world and i bet you do not even know the name of their currency without googling it !
Get the fuck over it and start working for the future of the country instead of your greedy selves and your horrible shit stain of a city.

Nice word salad there, I'm guesstimating you're 19 give or take 3 years. Also likely a yank.

I'm 43, the 'old' in this country grew up in the most privileged soft era in British history, buoyed by all those yankee post-war dollars, jobs till retirement and a robust benefit/pension system cradle to grave, the same stuff they're denying the young now. They've squandered it and their 'wisdom' has been shown for what it is, the usual 'little Englander' bullshit.

The young, frankly should burn it all to the fucking ground but they won't. They're too apathetic and stupid to actually revolt.

If the youth got off their arsed and used their democratic vote, perhaps it would have been different.

Don't blame an older generation, who's family fought for sovereignty, people who have valuable life experience greater than social media echo chambers.

You shouldn't be pissed at older people, you should be pissed at the youth who didn't vote.
>>
I still think it's funny that despite the one sided publicity and the social stigma attached to voting stay that the majority of people felt strongly enough to vote to leave.

And yet people are calling their decision racist, ill conceived and stupid. When all the evidence would point to the contrary.

If the UK was 52% racist the conservatives wouldn't have won the last election.

Even Corbyn didn't have the heart to mount a sensible stay campaign.

majority
məˈdʒɒrɪti/
noun
noun: majority; plural noun: majorities

1.
the greater number.
"in the majority of cases all will go smoothly"

Those that chose not to vote did so with their own will.
>>
>>691487995

In every sense of the word, it's a majority

We were never in the EU when we have helped to keep peace in Europe before. It's very unlikely anything as stupid would happen again as a result of us leaving an Economic consortium.

>Were you a Remain campaigner? Are you sore about the referendum result? Check out these 10 top self-comforting strategies.

1.) Call every white person who voted Leave a "racist", ignoring the fact that Europeans are also white. Make sure you ignore and marginalise ethnic minority leave voters.

2.) Claim that the (huge) turnout wasn't high enough. 72%? It should have been at least 75%! 80%? It should have been 85%! Make sure to keep moving the goalposts.

3.) Make a stupid e-petition demanding another referendum, just like the socialists did when Labour lost last year. We need to keep having referendums until we get the "right" result.

4.) Get over-excited about the economy, even if the impact has been pretty boring and mundane. Pretend that your 2:2 in English Literature makes you an expert on currency markets.

5.) Attack the very idea of Democracy, because it's only a good thing when it goes the way you want it to. Working class voters don't know what's good for them, but middle class liberals definitely do.

6.) Share memes bashing Brexit, ignoring the unwelcome and uncomfortable realisation that you are in the minority of public opinion.

7.) Boldly claim that Scotland will leave the UK, forgetting that A) they can't afford to B) the EU can't afford to take them C) 1.6m remain votes don't cancel out 2m NO votes.

8.) Make fun of Boris Johnson while sweating slightly and really hoping he doesn't become Prime Minister.

9.) Learn absolutely nothing from the campaign, blaming the result on everyone but yourself. Scaremongering and bullying are clearly the best tactics to use, there's no way they could possibly backfire.

10.) Curl up in a ball and cry yourself to sleep while listening to "Ode to Joy".

fucking butthurt remainers piss me off.

The majority spoke and the majority won, so let's do it again until the minority win. Sounds pretty undemocratic to me.

Those university students are the ones who will in the future find out new shit so the mentally-challenged working class can continue having more jobs made for them. Yeah, those guys are the retarded ones.

The worst thing is that immigration is a pan-european concern, not a disagreement point.

Ironically, the reasons why sand niggers get to UK are 1) illegal jobs easy 2) very low enforcement of any laws (immigration, work, etc) 3) former colonial flagship.

In other words, immigration control is only a question of political will from UK politicians and Europe has almost no part in this. I still don't see how a Brexit might give UK means to control immigration.

In France and many other continental countries, you can rapidly be arrested, detained and expelled when you are an illegal, and getting a decent job is almost impossible. Unless you eventually do your fucking job, nothing will change. UK is a joke.

wow, this whole referendum thing opened a pandora's box, previous to this I tought only italian people (I'm italian) voted shit without thinking and did stupid things like this, apparently uk is not so different, and with the trump thing in usa it looks like every country has its own berlusconi and the whole world is a bit italian

Sounds like if there is a possibility for an opposite result that the current result isn't not truly representative of what the populace desire. A result of 51.9/48.1 is not what I would consider a significant difference, and if it were the other way around I would still say that the result is not significant.

The people who voted to leave thought about it and came to their own conclusion. Don't believe the angry words of the losers claiming that we're all stupid just because we didn't agree with them mate.

Have been feeling very angry today almost to the point of paralysis so tomorrow I need to snap out of it. My last words on the EU referendum:

I respect people who voted Leave providing they have a valid reason - the worry is the number of people who seem to have voted on a whim or because they have taken the campaigns promises at face value. It is criminal that some people have been exploited in this way.

I used to get so depressed by the low turnout at elections. Recent events have made me feel that a low turnout of well informed people is better than a high number of ill-informed voters. I feel personally responsible for this having adopted my typically British stance of keeping my political views to myself...had I been more open I may have influenced a few people who genuinely were unclear of what to do.

I don't blame the older generation either. Not all of them voted to leave but those that did were just being, well, old...people rarely get more liberal with age and are more likely to have polarised views.
The worrying result was in the middle bracket - those of us with children and jobs and mortgages - we will be immediately affected and needed to get this right.

The immigration point is null and void. We still won't be able to control numbers and personally I couldn't care less. Ref extremists, they are already here folks and are just as likely to be a middle aged white bloke in a Yorkshire market town as anyone else. If there's one thing that's likely to radicalise more people it's this decision. That's without even talking about the message this has sent to the far Right across Europe...

Taking back control is great, although as it stands nobody is in control. The Leave campaigners have no plan, there is no timeframe in place. We have no credible leader and the contenders look terrified at the position they now find themselves in. Neither do we have a credible opposition.

Rant over. Now I'm looking for the positives:

That's what happens when you live in Democratorship. When people disagree with the political status quo, they get belittled. "They disagree with me, so they must be stupid, racist and/or sexist. Thus, their arguments are invalid. Because, clearly, I posses the right information. I've got all the experts on my side. I must be right."

But here's the thing: you probably don't know everything. No one does. The problem, and likely the reason why Brexit passed, is because the opinions of the Leave campaign weren't respected. And because they weren't respected, they felt no need to respect Remain. As such, rather than doing the sensible thing and discuss the implications of Brexit, people went with the hearts. The immigration issue is a big one that affects tons and tons of people so, with the promise of boarder control, it was an easy sell. The added freedom, money and the big "fuck you" to unelected leadership was just a nice, added bonus. People are sick of not being heard.

That said, these are of course not the only arguments for leaving. The EU does make trade harder, especially for other nations who need to live up to sometimes harsh regulations. This does result in worse products. Take the video recording limit on DSLRs or the power saver function on your speakers which causes them to shut down every 10-15 minutes of silence only to take a while to detect new sound. It's annoying and really doesn't help anyone or the environment. These small changes could of course have been made within the EU. But the point is, they never should have passed in the first place. The people simply aren't as aware of EU regulations as they are national. This needs to change IMMEDIATELY. Thing like TTIP shouldn't need a grassroots movement. The people should be made aware either way. It's a huge deal for everyone! If you don't know what the TTIP is then, congratulations: your 20 minutes lecture on the EU by John Oliver wasn't enough for you to make an informed decision.

That perhaps those that have voted for the first time and regretted their decision will treat their right to vote with greater respect in future.

That the young people who are rightly angry use this to change things for the better - they are our future leaders and if this experience makes more of them go into politics (especially young women) then great.

That when the general election is called that we all think carefully about who we choose to get us through the transition and heal the country - please let there be some viable options by then.

In the meantime I genuinely hope that there is a glorious future ahead of us so I will be rolling my sleeves up and cracking on.
