I think most of the people spouting Texit are non Texans though. I'm Texan, and currently have no wish to leave the Union. Hell, I think people in Texas have more love for the United States than the other 49 states combined. That doesn't mean I don't have some state-pride too, but not as much as I do for my country.

The number of people who want Texas to actually secede is probably greater outside of Texas than inside. Mostly it's a pipe dream from California residents and thereabouts.

That said, there is nothing in the constitution about a state being allowed to secede, and the US supreme court has ruled that it's illegal and that states cannot secede. Big surprise there.

So if Texas did decide to leave the union, it would have to be under less than perfect terms. Which is how they left last time when they dumped Mexico to get with the new hotness that was the USA. And then we went to war over just how big Texas is (really big). So we'd be going to war again, I imagine. And nobody beats the US at the war business.

Texas can succeed if they secede (their economy would be able to support it), but the US would show up to roflstomp them back into the union.

The constitution also allows for a process to change the constitution. It's called amending the constitution.

Lol what branch was the base? Outside of every military base is a ghetto. It's just how it is. On the base it's clean and safe to walk around. Most of the low ranking members aren't middle class, as you rank up you can make a really good living though. Plus you have free Healthcare for you and your family, cheap groceries on base, everything is tax free, and your get a housing allowance that grows as you rank up.
