I can read sheets. Guitar Pro also has notes but the main advantage of a tab program is downloading complete tabs. That way I can start playing some new song straight away, if I don't want to learn it by ear. The second advantage of tabs is that they tell, what is the best way to play a song. Notes only tell the notes but tabs tell also the positions and other guitar specific things. No matter how elitist you are, the fact is that there are more tabs than notes available and it's useful to have tabs in addition to notes, because they complement each other.

Got a Acer C702 from some idiot off craigslist for $100. He didn't even redeem the 2 free years of 100gb of google drive which has been fucking awesome.
It has paired so well with my desktop I built.
Chrome Remote Desktop should have it's own parade in New York.
I would suggest putting a linux chroot on it. It is fun being able to switch between OS's during class. Taking notes for a minute then back to Postal 2 until the next slide.

Huh. I've never really needed to leave Chrome OS because it basically covers everything I need. There's an offline file manager that's kinda flimsy in performance, but it works and it's great for staying super organized. If I need to take a note, there's Google Keep but there's also a simple offline notepad I have called Text that can handle some very light, simple coding (HTML, CSS, blah blah blah). It indents for you, highlights tags and commands n shit, it's pretty nice. There are some pretty good photo editors like Polarr and Pixlr Editor that function really well. Hell, there's even a GarageBand ripoff called Soundtrap that has no lag whatsoever. So I've never really seen a reason to leave Chrome OS unless I'm downloading from thepiratebae, and I hear uTorrent is working on a Chrome OS compatible app so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Plus there's the fact that Chrome OS now supports Android apps.
Basically, anything you can do on a cheap Windows laptop, you can do on Chrome OS which is nice.
