>>690970041
That is the worst submarine themed film. Do yourself a favour and watch Das Boot.
>>690969189
I was wondering about this movie. saw it recently and it seemed like it had a bunch of plot holes.
Why did the machine want to farm humans? Wasnt it for energy production?
Because of conservation of energy and entropy, they'll never make an energy profit off it
>>690971086
You forgot a few.
>>690972282
That apparently wasn't popular knowledge back then.
>>690972364
You forgot a few
>>690972282
It was made in 1999 i belive, man kind didn't know anything about entropy and conservation of energy at that time :)
>>690972282
Sci-fi generally takes a liberty or two. The movie is about action, not scientific accuracy.

Actually it specifically states that the energy garnered from human bodies was mined using a "kind of fushion", implying it was more efficient than anything we had invented until that point.

what kind of energy? humans need a lot of resources and it takes a lot of energy to provide a stable healthy condition for humans to grow and live. I remember them saying they fed the paste made out of genetic inferiors back to the humans, but they would need energy to form that and energy to provide it to the humans. Unless they were using an external source of energy to make the process function, like geothermal or solar, they would never make a profit of energy.
Nobody can farm things for energy, energy cannot be farmed in a closed system. Energy can only be taken from a finite resource like solar, geothermal, coal, fossil fuels, etc. Even trying to farm energy would ensure that they would lose energy from entropy in the system, it would be more efficient to save the energy invested into the system. If they were using an external source then it would be more efficient to try to convert that energy into the form they needed. Not to say they werent though, but what energy would a human provide? The electrical and thermal energy humans produce is very minimal and only enough for the human to function, any thing more would be wasteful. My only guess is that they saw it as an efficient way to turn energy into computational power without using precious metals. Maybe the matrix is being computed by human brains and simply powered and operated by the robots?
I know you don't have the answers, I just like to talk about plotholes and scifi

So bad it's good.
On the one hand, you had Joe Haldeman writing a gritty futuristic drama where The Market is always one match away from losing Alaska to The Confederation, and on the other side was director Stuart Gordon going, "no, man, we just want to make a fun movie about giant robots duking it out so the kids can enjoy it!"

As far as i know they farmed the human body for it's body heat and bioelectrical energy. I can only assume the fed the humans with some kind of organic mush that they couldn't use. (And also with processed human bodies, as per cannon).

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in ’83,I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
If you are really interested in something to watch for a long time... I suggest the stargate movie and the series that came from that.
-Stargate (1994) First movie.
¨
-Stargate sg1 - First series about the stargate. (10 seasons)
-Stargate Continuum - Ending movie 1/2 for SG1.
- Stargate Ark of Thruth - ending movie 2/2 For SG1.
-Stargate Atlantis ( only like 6 seasons) - no ending movie.
- Stargate Universe (unforgently only got 2 seasons as sci-fi was dead at the time.)
Shits hilarious
