I think that there are a lot of things going on in the shadows that we can't even fathom. I genuinely think the superpowers of the world right now are not on the same page. Personally I highly doubt we will ever see a truly global war again, but since I live in Sweden I can't ignore the advances Russia has made upon our territory. If they do try to attack us I strongly believe europe and the US would have to fight back, since allowing Russia to control such a bufferzone would be unacceptable to the UK and US.

So if a conflict were to start I believe it would indeed start there.

The middle east is not really of any large importance in the grand scheme of things, and if it were to come down to it the US could level that shithole within a month since they lack modern defences.
