guy i used to work with, his 10 year old kid was crazy about trains. have a railyard in town that they lived near. he'd spend all his summer just going down there and watching the trains. after a while the engineers and other guys would put him to work doing stuff for them. when he got out of high school, he went to some train school.
now the kid's an engineer in his 20s, making tons of money. but he doesn't spend any of it. he still spends all his free time going down to the railyard and watching trains.
