Did anyone here play a sport in HS or college? I know this site is for basement dwellers, but I'm just wondering.

>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?

Only Chad play sports
>>
Well it seems every football team are full of hyper-masculine, ass wrangling chads. Best stay away lest ye be sodomized

Did track and field in High School. Honestly I didn't enjoy it but I thought fuck it might as well do some sport. Training was difficult because of the events I ran. I did the 200m and 400m sprints so practice always wore you out after a while. The rivalries were decent for the most part. We had this high school in the wealthier part of town that we considered our rivals. Then there was another rival we have that we always lost to.
>>690486431
I don't consider myself a Chad.

you must have been in really good shape, did you wear those tight clothes for the events? (no homo)

Funny thing is that at the start of the season I was all bulky because of 8 months at the gym. Running track made me lose all my gains because I ate real shirty also. So I became really thin.

Yeah I wore the tank top and short shorts. Most guys wore under armor beneath their shorts though because when you lay down you can see into your crotch.

Most of the time though I ran it with just a tank top and my under armor no shorts. Comfiest way to run anon. It's like being naked below the waist but your balls aren't flying everywhere.
>>
>>690487886
Fucking kek. I almost did! During one of our practice drills for 400meter sprints I fell way behind because I couldn't exert myself otherwise I'd shit.
>>

did bitches mire you from the stands anon?
>>
>>690488810
Tbh idk. I never focused. It was fun flirting with female runners though.

My name's not Chad and I played highschool football. I played from 7th to 9th grade..so I guess just one year of highschool fb. Anyway, I had fun, it kept me from growing any fatter than I was. They had me as a lineman for both offense and defense. Training was only hard when it was really hot and humid. I had fun cuz I realized how weak everyone else in my school was. I could throw them around. But, one day, some lady from the marching band came and said they wanted tuba players and I quietly said, "that sounds like fun." I guess the coaches heard it tho they didn't know who said it and cracked down on us some. But since my gf was in the band, I said fuck it and made the switch. The lady was like, "so u were the one that said it seemed like fun"

handball and yes
it wasn't too bad, many many bruises though
not that much. had friendly character overall

germany btw

What were the bruises from? Didn't know there was this much contact in handball

Yeah... I then started asking some people about other team/sports and how casual they were but meh it was pretty much the same

Softball, very fun still play it.
Training not very difficult just have to have good hand eye coordination.
Your typical rivalry for HS always 1 team better than you that you wanna beat.

>>690490833
Do a solo sport like swimming, bouldering etc. You make your own schedule and train it at your own pace. No coaches bothering you

from falling onto the hard floor. mainly on knees and elbows. it happens quite some times.

there isn't THAT much contact though

i play golf in college
its golf so other than practice 5 times a week there isnt any training
everyone liked the golf team but no one likes the lacrosse team at our school

I was in the Jazz band if that counts.

played soccer in high school and played in collage. it was really fun in high school. I got to collage and everyone was good. training sessions were alot more difficult. it dictates your life during the season. i couldnt even take certain classe becuse it would get in the way of moring practices.but its something i would recommened
>>
I played baseball and track and field in high school, ended up doing track and field in college. Going into my junior year, and I love it. The training gets tough in the weight room and with technical drills but it's worth it. I've been all region, conference champion, all conference, and all east coast, along with a school record and train with a former Olympian over the summers. Despite personal bias in my success, my teammates are like a second family and we all get along and do a ton of stuff together. Track and field is filled with friendly rivalries and competitions, the people that go into the sport are very well mannered, kind, and fun to be around.

>>690492078
>no one likes the lacrosse team at our school
why not? lax guys in my schools were bros. footballers were douches tho

>>

>>
>>690485116
Ultimate frisbee in college (still play it.)

This is a sport where you find a role for everyone on the team (more athletic people and less athletic people both see the field ). Team culture off the field really depends on where you go to school, for me, we essentially party like a frat (don't expect that if you go to a dry school).

Rugby, actually started late but because of my size (1.95cm/97kg) i turned out to be great at it, did wrestling and soccer goalie so tackling and catching balls i guess was pretty natural and i made the national U18 team to play EM. I played football, basketball, and soccer.
Played football my whole life, soccer is unbelievably fun.
Football strength and conditioning is a lot of work. Gotta keep up with it. Soccer is literally just practicing ball control and running.
Always rivalries. Odd questions.
>>
I pole-vaulted from 7th-12th grade. It's pretty hard to get good unless you have a good coach. I lucked out. The training is as typical as a sprinters workout and then the technical training of vaulting. I became friends with literally every vaulter in my district all the way up to the state level, so it was more like friendly competition. Also, before poor ask: I jumped 14'9" at State my senior year.

>What sport did you play and was it fun?
Rugby, yes, still play it (flyhalf or outside centre for newcastle uni)
>Was the training difficult?
it is at first but you get used to it, but it's still very demanding
>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
most people are friends, it's not unusual to go out for pints with players from other teams, even though some teams are pretty much hated by everyone, birmingham being one of those
>>
>>690495599
Ayyy my name's Mark too

Football. Practices were so hard, playing in an actual game was a relief.

lot of rude chat across the scrimmage line. But the guys on both sides have more in common with each other than anyone else there. by the end of the game, that was home and it was fun talking to my new buds on the other side.
>>
>>690485116
>>What sport did you play and was it fun?
Hockey. I had been playing my entire life up to that point, so it was great. I was a goalie, and our team wasn't very good, so I had a lot of chances to look good.

>>Was the training difficult?
Eh, goalie training was a little different from training from the rest of the team. It was more cardio and endurance, and all time in the weight room was spent on lower body. The hard part for me was working on mobility during practice.

>>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
Not much. None of the teams at my high school were very good. Ironically, when the hockey coach realized he couldn't just lean on a few players and quit, the next coach took (largely) that same team to state finals. I wish I had played for him, since he actually got the program back on track.

Wrestled in middle school and high school.

Training was brutal. Especially because you were starving yourself to make weight.

Yeah, there was rivalry between some of the athletes. But mostly wrestlers were considered second tier athletes. Not worth noticing.
>>
I played baseball in high school, I loved it, grew up with because my dad loved it so I was a big fan.
I was a little guy, but really fast, so that helped me out, made varsity as a sophomore, started as a junior.

Training wasn't crazy, my metabolism was crazy so I stayed skinny, and minimal workouts kept me in decent shape.

Had visits and even offers from colleges about playing, but my junior season i had a pretty gnarly collision with another player in the outfield while tracking down a ball. I tore my rotator cuff and my labrum in my throwing arm, and also badly concussed, permanent hearing loss in my right ear. Colleges rescinded their scholarships

Funny thing is that, that all changed once I started playing in req/beer leagues. I'm not in nearly the shape I was back in high school, but being able to play in a half way competent way makes me very popular.
>>
>>690485116
I played rugby for my school. The practice are physical and demanding with big, bulky kids in scrums and thin, faster kids in the back. With rugby expect broken body parts, like fingers or noses, and concussions a lot.
>>
>>690493510
I'm in between. I get tired occasionally, but I'm still in shape and can play for an entire game (up to an hour and a half) without substitution.

Since I go to a really preppy college, our selection of women is mostly limited to friends of the team and other team members (some are really hot), and the occasional naive girl that comes to our parties.

in order
>football sophomore year, basketball junior year, T&F-javlin all years
>not fun, fun, very fun
>conditioning is always run til you puke and run some more.
football means crashing into guys in tights, and getting crashed into. slipped a disc in my lower back after taking a pretty nasty hit by this 6 foot 2 powerhouse
>le me, 5 foot 4 at the time
>surprised the alpha-chad didnt kill me

basketball is more running, but alot more coordinated
bit faster but less chance of ruining my back again, almost went to states that year, was fun

javlin throwing though....goddamned artform that.

other than jav, no harsh rivalries
there was this one guy who managed to match me throw for throw on a team we went up against a few times each year. Never mananged to NOT tie with the smug bastard...

American Football (HS and Uni)
Very fun, Lineman both sides
Spring and summer training sucks, running all fucking day long
Linemen are their own breed, tight bonds but we literally just fight each other all practice long so it is super exciting when we play another team with fresh meat, certain school rivalries got intense, did a lot of fucked up shit before and or after rivalry games
>>
I did played Football and Water polo throughout high school and they were very fun and I loved it

The training wasn't hard if you just put in effort and stay motivated and wanted to get better.

They was big rivalry between all the good teams very fun and loved the competitive shit happening
>>
>>690497660
Water polo is brutal, bet you had a killer body though, no homo

I was the varsity tennis captain and league MVP in high school. The competitiveness was instance because our own teammates had to play against each other and fight for their team rankings, determining whether they were varsity or not. Nevertheless, it was fun and actually keeps you in shape, given you work out your arms and chest on the side. Pussy was slain

Hockey, baseball, football, rode motocross for a bit, soccer.

Yeah, but that's a factor in all sports.
Some more than others, demanding in different ways.
>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
Depends on the team, the competitiveness of each team, and the sport.

there is more animosity in hockey than any other sport, but I attribute that to being able to defend yourself

I know this will trigger people, but wrestling is the hardest high school sport. It is so demanding. I lost about 20 pounds, and kids from my school would drop 8 pounds sweating our water to make weight. It is very physically taxing and hard. I also do cross country and it was nothing compared to wrestling. Wrestling was worse than a boot camp. I don't consider myself a chad, but I like to think I am fit. I think I might wrestle at 160 next season. I did 171-152 my freshmen year, and I did 145 the next year. Competition was rough, but friendly. I had to challenge some people to get on varsity
>>
>>690500215

>>
>>690485116
Played a lot of sports. Rugby, Waterpolo, cross-country, boxing, rowing (crew). Mostly enjoyed them all.
Training for all of those were quite demanding, but mostly rowing. Some days we had 3 training sessions a day, and before competitions 6 days a week.
Rugby rivalries between all the traditional schools were the best. We had rivalries with some schools that we'd literally been playing matches against for hundreds of years.
>>
>>690500387
Once I got into the team it changed my life. I used to only be able to do 20 pushups. The military came to my school and I did 60. Nobody really fucks with anyone on the team as long as you aren't a pussy. 152-160 is full of the more built kids.

Yeah, pretty much everyone except the thuggies and the others in the top 10 of the class (I was valedictorian) loved me. I also got to know a lot of other good players from the schools we faced. It was pretty cool overall. 10/10
>>
>>690485116

Yeah it was actually fun surprisingly, the meets were usually a couple hours of socializing then like 20 minutes of running, (if you were distance)
Scholarships aren't to hard to get from running either

>>690485116
Football freshman year. My dad made me play bc my lil sister nearly caught me downloading pr0n (had to turn of the monitor as she entered the room and she told him I was acting suspicious). I was much more at home at Lan parties, math comps, and playing around with actionscript 3 so I was far from excited. But I'm big and black so I fit right in. Offensive line with an ex-marine cop as the o-line coach. He would have us do a gauntlet- everyone on their knees in a circle, 2 guys go into the middle and grapple, the loser is the one whose shoulders hit the ground first. Ended up being pretty fun and I feel like I got a lot out of it.

Also played a couple of years of lacrosse. I thought it was much more fun to play than football, but, Goddamn, we're the players stuck up.
>>
>>690485116
Rowed in high school, worked for me as a basement dweller, sat on the indoor rower in my basement for extended periods of time, and then when I came out I did great at it.

I played soccer in high school and a little bit in college. I had a lot of fun in high school, played with the same guys since before 5th grade which was nice.

Only preseason training was difficult because that's when everyone was trying to get back into shape. During the season it was just walk through's. I believe an anon earlier in this threat said it dominated his life in college, which is why I ended up turning away from it.

There were no inter-sport rivalries at my school. Everyone more or less got along.

Practice wasn't bad either, you had to train a lot to get good, I wasn't naturally good at running, you get better every year though, first year I'd run the 800 in 2:50, last year of running it was down too 2 minutes flat, you were rivals with the other teams when you ran in relays or ran in races, I don't ever remember being mad at a other runner, there were close races but after the race I wasn't mad at anyone just interested to see if I got a pr

I did xc and i actually enjoyed it

There were huge rivalries with other schools though. Every year someone would do some scummy shit to the others' field or facilities. A cross town rival pooped on our practice field one year, and another big rival spray painted our bathrooms.

Shit got ridiculous, but it added a bit more to the rivalries.

training was difficult but mainly because we trained like track. running was hard because of amount but actual soccer training was easy
not much rivalry with other teams but holy shit on the team itself was insane. if you didnt give the ball to the senior members they would gang up on you, if you even talked to gfs or girls guys wanted to fuck the would attack you, if you didnt agree with them they fucking went at you. girl who was in my history class asked me to help her on some hw and i got jumped by 3 seniors who told me to stay away from her. she wasnt a gf or fuck buddy. just a girl one of them wanted to try and fuck

made me not wanna stick the sport out through college since if highschool jocks were this stupid i could only imagine college and possible pro players would be like off the field/camera

Wrestling was great when you won, sucked with me 6ft 145.....

I ran xc, winter track, track in high school. Great experience, which I had put more into it (I was never any good.) Got most of my hs social interaction from the team, even though it wasn't much. There was pretty good community aspect also. Training was fine although sucked at first.

Are you talking about wrestling in that last part?

Not as a senior in lacroase. But plenty before then. In wrestling i won more than i lost, and you can normally tell who's going to win in the first 10 deconds

I was gonna play football. I went to the first day of spring camp and the next day I broke my wrist playing rugby. So I didn't end up doing that. Just ended up doing drama and drinking.
But started a backyard boxing "club" with friends. Had fights twice then it turned into just getting drunk and high.

Height can be an advantage. I am assuming you cut weight to get to 145? I did 145 and I was 5'11. I looked pretty damn intimidating because I was cutting 20 pounds.

>>What sport did you play and was it fun?
Baseball. Relief pitcher for ASU.
>>Was the training difficult?
Not particularly. My arm is done though, if I performed well it was smooth sailing- if not it was hell, and everyone hated me if I had a bad game.
>>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
When we played U of A it was quite a rivalry; as well as, USC. Other than that it was pretty chill.

damn how bad was the damage in those fights you lost, were you going against seniors?

i was 5'10" 189. Man I can't imagine your reach though. One of our best guys was exactly your size.

Naturally. Every big game or big rivalry is going to be a more aggressive battle. It comes with the territory.

Baseball.

The practices and training were pretty difficult, but only in a physically demanding way. They were meant to make us better and got progressively harder, but it was all worth it.

I had a lot of fun while I played baseball, our varsity team has made it to the 4A state tournament every year eccept one for like the last 18 years, too.

what position did you play?
>>
Wrestling is the hardest shit. Nothing is worse

If I could redo it, I would have spent less time playing sports and more time doing shit that I could do after highschool. I can't draw for shit, like I literally cannot draw a fucking stick figure. I'm smart, but I never did anything like debate club, which would've been actually worthwhile. I wish I had learned an instrument or three, or spent more time with my friends. When people say it ends, you don't really understand until it's over. I didn't realize that my last game would be the very last time I ever played. You have it until you don't and when it's gone all you want is it back, and it never comes back. Your youth never comes back. All playing sports gave me was grandiose memories and nontransferable skills.

Marching band. It's as much a sport as golf or bowling if you compete. It was fun, but filled with attention seeking queer fucks and socially retarded outcasts.

7 hours of practice a day was more brutal than anything I've done in baseball.

You competed against yourself almost because of the scoring system, like in golf or something, so not a lot of rivalry. It allowed you to make out with the hot flute players from other schools.

Tldr; The distraction in the middle of football games is sort of fun to be a part of, but it takes a lot of work to look like a retard playing pop songs on brass instruments with a silly feather on your hend. Lots of sex stuff happened though between the members.
