Underwhelming. It's not the clean vocals that bother me, I actually like Joe's cleans better than the Oli Sykes shit he's had going on lately, but the progression of the songs themselves just fall flat and every instrument is stunted, especially the drums. Very few memorable riffs too, and riffs are these guys' meat and cheese. Maybe they just relied too much on ambience this time around or something, I don't know man. I'll put it this way: If this is how Gojira sounded when I first listened to them, I don't think I would've bothered listening to the rest of their discography. Their debut makes this sound so amateurish. Change isn't always equivalent to evolution.

I actually agree with anon here >>690414545, I was really weirded out by the direction they took on MAGMA, at the point that I thought I downloaded a bad leak, not Gojira related. The title song has the most annoying repeating sound AND my favourite moment of the album, which is pretty wtf too. Silvera is definitely the best song in there, the other have either good moments, or are somewhat average compared to their previous material. For me, their peak was Way of All Flesh and L'Enfant Sauvage
