The only reason Bethesda is re-releasing Skyrim is because there is a market of complete idiots who will buy it on modern consoles. It's one of the newer Bethesda releases anyway, it's not going to take some kind of unimaginable leap from last gen to the current gen.

Skyrim was 10/10 in terms of RPG/fantasy game for the masses. Not something for the hardcore RPG fans, but something more enjoyable for everyone. Got GOTY 2011, had great graphics for the time, and had a pretty interesting story line.

Skyrim is pretty much forgotten since FO4 came out, and because FO4 was bland with a meh story, they are re-releasing it with mod support on console and updated graphics and game physics.

The first two could extend the Thalmor storyline brought on in Skyrim (since in-game text/dialogue can be found that indicates the war against the elves is faring much better in those locations than it is in other provinces), or the third could explore the origins of the rise of the Thalmor from their homeland and beyond.

Skywind is already a thing. So is Skyblivion.

The reason Skyrim is being rereleased is because it was a proof of concept to port it into the new version of the engine and the results were great, so they ported the whole game. I seriously doubt it took them very much work, seeing as they're just giving it away to the entirety of their PC audience. Sure console kiddies are gonna eat it up, but nobody gives a shit about them anyways.

The real outcome is Skyrim in a 64-bit engine. Skyrim's engine runs like shit on new games and it'll be nice to play agame that actually works.

Their engine is dogshit tbh. Scripts can break if your framerate goes too high, which really sucks for people that disable vsync. I remember having so many glitches and problems with that game, just like a lot of other people after it came out, but it turns out that was the cause of like 90% of the bugs. When fallout 4 came out it has all of the same problems, except more people noticed because now more people have better systems to play their game on.

Hopefully whatever they are coming out with now won't require .ini tweaks and 3rd party programs to make stable.

For me, that is the reason to play it through. When Skyrim came out I was absolutely enthralled with it when playing on PC due to the superior graphics. On console I was disappointed, the graphics were heavily handicapped by Bethesda developing it for the Xbox first and porting it to the PS3. The PS3 had superior hardware, but they would have to create almost an entirely new game to port it to the Xbox. Now that both PS4 and Xbox one have similar technology the console versions don't have to be so handicapped and the new machines are capable of much more than the PS3 or 360 could ever hope to achieve. If we DO pay for mods, I hope the modders set their own prices and have NO MINIMUM PRICE. Having a pay-what-you -want feature (like Bandcamp) would be the very best. Folks can still pay $0 and download, but money for the modmakers is right there in the users' faces. No having to hide behind paypal links or vague Patreons to make a money.

I've been gaming since 1987. I'm kind of burned out on single player RPG's. I know they are fun sometimes, but the only thing that interests me nowadays is Multi-player games. Multi player interaction.

I think the next step for Bethesda, to really make the next Elder Scrolls REVOLUTIONARY..... is this :

If you connect online while playing the single player campaign, you join someone else's single player experience. So, I turn on my console or PC, fire up Skyrim, and then I load my single player save file, but when I join my map, I may encounter another human player who is also questing in their own single player experience... but we happen to be sharing the same world. And we can fight. And this makes the world even more dangerous. It's a variation of an MMORPG but it's really just an online single player in which you share your world with anyone you are placed with. And maybe Bethesda can add a limit... like 15-20 players per map.

I really hope they add some more spells. Most of them just felt like more powerful versions of the previous tier. It really made gameplay sort of repetitive at times.

They need to balance out the sneak archery combo too lol. I abused the bound bow so hard. I do hope they add particle effects on enchanted flying arrows. Idk where to begin with making alchemy a viable skill set without massive grinding. Restoration and alteration could use some love too.

I completely agree! That's why I love the idea of Skyrim Online. It's the single player experience, but with others. I believe that there should be different roles though, a hero and a villain. You both play very different story lines but in the same world, where your paths cross.

They are absolutely not for everybody! Much too slow paced and all. Point and click adventure games were mostly a dos thing and they had varying success. Of course Myst looked absolutely beautiful for the era, as did Riven, as did Exile.

Yeah man. There's basically two game modes that you can switch between freely. "Hollowed" and "Human". If you're a human and you die, you become a hollow, and you have to consume an item to become human again.

As a human, you can see "summon signs" on the ground. These summon another player to your world for coop. Depending on what guild the player has pledged themselves to, summons are coop or PvP or both.

As a human, your game can also be invaded by other players with the intent on killing you and pilfering your humanity.

So, there's a risk/reward - be human and summon a friend to beat the tough enemy/area, but be prepared to potentially fight other players.

All three Dark Souls (and Demon Souls, the proto-game; and Bloodborne, the Lovecraftian spinoff) have some sort of mechanics like these. They are fucking fantastic and the ones on PC go for very cheap at Steam sales! The 3rd and final just released a little while ago and was a fitting end to the series.

If you're going to play with different story lines I think they should have more consequences for your actions. Factions actually affecting politics, # of bandits in areas, poverty in areas, ect. I'd like for them to make it a more malleable world as opposed to a pay my bounty and all is ok or the thieves guild/darkbrotherhood making it's rise to power again but nothing really happens in the overall world.

Unfortunately, massive RPG's like these are very expensive to make, and they don't earn as much money as the Call of Doodies and such. The amount of developing hours that goes into an Elder Scrolls game VS Activision's yearly CoD poop is night and day......

I agree. At first I was disappointed with no TES: VI, but the fact they have even considered us TES fans and updated Skyrim is quite the treat. Usually after 2 years most game dev's drop support for their RPG's. 5 years on and we're seeing an updated version is pretty damn impressive. I also feel that it is a chance for those who were too young for skyrim when it came out to get it.

After about 20 accounts or so (honestly not lying) I felt like I was doing a bit of a checklist for quests. It really took away from the whole hero thing to see your good or bad actions go largely unnoticed. The roleplaying is what keeps people coming back for more.

My favorite build was conjuration, illusion, bound bow, a little destruction, and sneak. No armor or health on legendary.

Another one was playing on expert with fur armor and no health, but good weapons. This made it fairly balanced as the bandits could kill me just as easily as I could kill them. It made it more realistic as it was 3-4 hit kills for each of us. I could have magic and stamina to outplay them. No perks in sneak other than the first one and only one sneak attack per engagement.

Bethesda is using the same freaking engine since FO3. They just mod it a little for Skyrim, and then they modded it a little more for FO4..... but inherently, as a PLAYER..... I can't escape the feeling I'm playing on an old ass engine and it just feels wrong.
