I'm the 5'11, 180 guy and I have barely any fat. I drink mostly liquor for that reason. I used to be pretty overweight, but I stopped drinking beer and switched to straight vodka/rum, hit the gym (plus my job itself is a straight workout most of the time), I dropped 30 pounds and put on straight muscle. 145 at 6'1 seems ridiculously scrawny. I have a friend that's 6'2 or 6'3 and ~160 lbs and he looks like a pencil.

Bourbon is actually the cheapest whiskey to get into. There's some really solid stuff that can be had for (relatively) cheap. Booker's is only about 10% more than Maker's Mark where I live, and it's a totally different level of quality- and cask strength/non-chill filtered too, which is a plus. Things like Evan Williams Single Barrel, Four Roses single barrel, and Elijah Craig 12 year old are all pretty decent as well.

True. If I stop doing shit I gain weight so fast it's unbelievable. I lose it pretty quick, too, but I put it on even quicker.

Back in high school I started doing adderall and then coke, and just skipping school, barely eating and just played basketball all day. I went from about 190 (i was fat back then, virtually no muscle) to about 140-150 pounds and I looked sickly thin. It wasn't until I started working out and getting a manual labor job that I actually started to look good/healthy. I don't do drugs anymore so that probably helps.

I could still shed a few pounds, I'd like to get more in the 170-175 range. It's really no big deal or difference, just a personal goal. One of my close friends is a marine and we're close in height and weight, and every time I see him he still manages to get me down to the ground first so I'm working on that as well.

But once you've gotten in lobbying for some sector, its hard to make a switch. You generally need carbs for the energy to lift and build muscle. A lot of pepper on it have a "carb up" so they can do it, but it's difficult.
It's called the keto diet, you're pretty much training your body to use fat for energy rather than glucose.
The general idea is to eat a lot of fats, a normal amount of protein, and very few carbs.
Since beer/wine are liquid carbs that a negative. Sugars are processed into glucose (I think) so none of that.

Honestly I feel like working in politics or any field related to it would make just about anyone a bit cynical. Why so high on fat?
I've read recently that certain fats aren't that bad at all, but I'm still curious about why you would eat lots of it.

I like the idea of converting your bodies energy source to fat from sugar which I kind of feel, now as I write it, is why you eat so much fat.

Given how little I've been eating recently, I tried to make what little food I do eat worth it.
Worth it as in what I feel is good for my body so I've been eating tons of bananas, nectarines, plums, pears, kiwis and all kinds of fruits and vegetables which has been much easier a shift from my old eating habits (read: shit) than I would have thought.

I started working out whenever I felt energetic enough about 3 months ago which is when I upped my protein intake.

I still eat way below maintenance but all I eat is fruits, vegetables and lots protein so I've been concerned about my...ahem, gains.

I want very low body-fat and a fair amount of muscle so I probably should look into actual diets and training regimes, but I'm just a lazy piece of shit.

Also, I'll probably never stop drinking beer.
I'm a vodka and water type of guy, but I love my beer too.

I think it's very admirable to keep to a regime, more so because I find it so hard to myself.

I don't know if keto is right for you if you're looking to attain more muscle, but if you do go for that you'll want to do kind of a cycling thing of carb ups and keto.
It sounds like you're going heavy on the fruit, which isn't bad, but make sure you're getting enough dark greens and healthy fats. Grains won't hurt, but usually from what I understand beans are the best way to go with that.
I used to make stuffed peppers with ground turkey, taco mix, black beans, and sharp cheddar. It has all you really need, pretty good for you and delicious.
I can ask a friend about that stuff when he gets off work, he knows more about the muscle stuff than I do. All I know is you have to at least make sure you're getting enough calories to be functional, at least 1200 before exercise.

I only eat when I'm hungry and literally 90% f the time that's at night after a drink or a puff.
I don't think I've ever worked out less than 15 hours after my last meal so I'm pretty sure I'm always in a fasting state when I workout.

I'll definitely look this up tomorrow, especially the muscle gain stuff, now that I'm a little more interested.

If there's a drinking thread tomorrow night, however, I'll ask for you and we'll see if your friend has any tips.

I'm going to try out your stuffed peppers recipe because I just realized that I've never made stuffed peppers and I've been desperately trying to make as much of my food intake personally prepared possible.

Try to track your calories or something, because it's really important to have at least 1200. That's pretty much what your body needs for maitenence.

I was disappointed to see that it was not there.

Whats weird is that I actually sighed at the fact that I was going to have to download the movie.

three years ago I would have happily just jumped to downloading it.
