first, having anything tied around a bullet would mean you couldn't insert it into the chamber properly. Breach-loading would cause the string to be sliced. If you could somehow muzzle-load it, the actual firing would be inefficient, since the string would either not form a good seal around the bullet, or if it did, the string would be burned up by friction along the wall of the barrel. either way, the bullet wouldn't spin correctly, and the firing would be a failure generally
but suppose somehow you could deal with these problems.
first, the string would just snap as the bullet came out. the bullet would be moving so fast that the string would be torn apart
if you could overcome that problem (i.e. with a semi-elastic string that could absorb the impact and not snap)
the bullet's path would be deflected by the string, meaning it would loop in a circle around wherever the string is tied. if the string was like a food, the bullet would swing around and hit you in the chest
so please, try to overcome those problems
the only way to not have the string loop around would be for it to be tied to the center of the back of the chamber - in which case, if the string didn't break, this would indeed work
