I analyzed some of your games. You really need to learn about positional play. Else wise, you play at like a 1500 level, which isn't terrible. Try playing longer games.

Yes I'm much stronger with slower time controls, well of course as everyone is... But I have been playing good lately. I just played an OTB tournament a week ago and beat the State Champion in one of my games, so I'm hitting my peak right now and still learning ;)

Your tactics rating is very high, so you obviously have goo calculating power and vision. I used to have it up to 2300+ in my tactics been I tend to go on tilt alot...
I go on tilt alot in my blitz and bullet games, I start losing and never quit and lose a bunch of games raging lol.. But in classic time controls I can keep cool and take my loses well.

Utah... I didnt learn chess until I was 19 years old. And played off and on a little bit online, always sucked.

But I started playing again 10 months ago and really started working at the game, studying it, learning openings. And I'm really starting to "get it", but still TONS I have to learn.

I'm strongest tactically though.. If you watched some of the games I just played, yeah the opponents arent that strong, but you shouldve seen how fast I find combonations and mates when they are their.. But thats alot of bullet play speaking too

I'm the same way. I hate blitz because I sometimes get beaten by low rated players(1600-1800) then I just get pissed. I haven't been playing anyone rated above 1600, so my gameplay is very bad right now. It's good that you enjoy classic. Most people focus on blitz and never develop.

The reason I play 3 or 5 minute games is just to work on my openings...

But I dont know for me its hard to learn openings.. Positionally I still need a lot of work, and my endgame skills needs work.. But my openings are always my least favorite subject. I'm really trying to apply myself to it now.
My secret is to only have a couple of openings and just keep playing them over and over again.

But you can find youtube videos on some openings.. Maybe some books would help you after you choose which openings you want to make "yours"... But really just watch the pros play those openings, view like 20 master games in the openings you want to learn and start getting the ideas, then play games with those openings and always review your games and see what can be improved... its hard work.
