I play cash games, don't need a software to know who wins or lose at my tables, style of play and mistakes are usually a better indicator.

However, I use pokertracker because to much tables to take notes of everything that is going on and makes it easier for hand review.

Tips ? Buy a tracker, work your game. Get on a forum, post hands and se how others reason about what you did, learn to analyse everything you do and progress.

Whenever you feel confortable financially (30-70 Buy in depending on number of tables) move up until you hit glass ceiling. Don't hesitate to move down when needed, there is no shame in rebuilding, going broke however is fucking lame
