Nothingness.
Was in a narcosis once, all brain functions reduced to a minimum. Closest you can get to being dead while still alive.

What I 'experienced' was pure nothingness. As in there was no distance for me between breathing in gas and waking up. One moment there, then immediately after -with no perceived time passed- waking up in the bed.

Was not too bad actually. After this experience I was far less afraid of death for a couple of months until the effect wore off.
If more people could make this experience there probably wouldn't be as many believers in a necessary higher cause.

What a coincidence, that very much describes myself and an asthma attack I had. I lost complete control of my senses: I couldn't smell, hear, taste, touch or anything. My body didn't fall unconscious and I could still think and was aware what happened, but it was completely like drifting in a void. I was in the forest, and I can't remember the transition, but I remember having no sensory input at all. I was completely blind, deaf. I've died once when I was little and you'd think it's like falling asleep and not waking up anymore, that you never know you ever even existed. But I felt myself floating out of my body and I was still a consciousness and I went to a place what someone would consider heaven, it's just a passage to be reborn again. I felt so much at peace, it was like a warm bath and felt peaceful and loved. When I got back into my body I was upset that I got back. After my experience I started remembering things of past lives. Things that I couldn't possibly have known for a 7 year old. And the more I meditate now the more I understand about it all. I went into an astral projection once in meditation but that scared me because it felt the same way as dying. Well, first they remove all your organs while you are still awake enough to feel it. They don't waste anesthesia on a dead fag, so you can feel the knife carving out your liver, then they crack your ribs and take out your still pulsating heart. finally they shred away your skin, each tear an eternity of agony, it will mostly be used in skin creams, but some of it will go to help burn victims. Bones and tissues are next, thankfully by this point you will no longer feel anything as the nerve endings will have finally been shredded.

i find it so incredibly fascinating that one day, i'll just be gone, and that's that. No more consciousness, no more anything really. It might sound depressing, but when you're dead you won't be worrying about anything. I used to be afraid of death, but now I just want to live while I can. If that doesn't make you feel free as fuck, i don't know what will.
