What I really hate is when a movie has potential, but fucks it up due to bad acting, plot holes etc., and this was one of those movies. The story isn't new, but it's not bad either. What is bad is the absolutely unbelievable decisions the characters make. The acting isn't great either. Half way in, the story turns to shit, plot holes keep bitchslapping you non stop, and the end is so painfully stupid that it makes me mad with rage. And to top it of, during the last scene, they're playing "Where Is My Mind" from Pixies (also used in the final scene of Fight Club). This had me white hot with anger. Fuck this movie. Fuck the writers.

I dare you to compare anything from Wood's filmography against, say, "KILL" (on the Troma label). Trust me, "Kill" makes "Plan 9" look like the picture of fucking film-brilliance.
It's lazy to use Ed Wood as a scapegoat. He had passion and was in focus most of the time. His films are more competent than those of H.G. Lewis, and yet people laud Lewis with being a pioneer (of the gore film), while his films are technically trash (and have no passion in them whatsoever).

I haven't yet seen the later two movies, they're still on my list. I think the first movie was a well written movie that really captured the essence of a Punisher comic, but Dolph was not the right casting choice. He couldn't pick a voice to use, always had a forced kinda duckface "tough guy look" on, and looked like the frontman to an emo boy band. Other than him the movie was good, him improvising tools, him interacting with his "kooky" pal, the mobs fighting him and each other. I'm sure the others have better Punisher's, but I still stand by the first movie being good.
