I'm not in the medical field. As you get older your metabolism changes and you gain weight more easily and lose it less easily. As teens many people can stay lean/muscular with little or no effort. If you think this is going to last then I have bad news for you.

That's the general explanation for why someone nearing their 30s may have gained weight. But there are endless reasons why people gain weight. Maybe she quit smoking or cocaine, maybe she's depressed, maybe she doesn't give a fuck, maybe she did it intentionally. Why don't you ask her?

Medic here. Had one way out in a rural area. She was having chest pain. Apparently she'd been discharged from the hospital about 2 weeks prior and just sat her fat ass in a recliner and didn't move. So that chair had become her bed, kitchen, and bathroom all in one. She was essentially soaked with piss and shit.

We had to lift her out of the chair and into the stretcher. Once I got her out to the truck, I was going to do am EKG, which involves putting cardiac monitor stickers on the chest and around the left breast. I had to lift up her nasty fat tit, and saw that it was necrotic with rotten flesh on the inner side. She had maggots under her tits, man. That was the worst.

I thought about that, but I'd lose so much of my autonomy. I know ICU nurses are generally pretty trusted to do whatever needs to be done, but the thought of working on the floor makes me sick.

I don't have the patience to deal with ICU patients for sometimes months at a time. I like my patients to be with me as little amount of time as possible.

In the ER, I'd just lose so much of what I'm able to do on my own. Patient needs intubated? Nope, don't do it, here comes the doctor to do it.

Plus the thought of being around those women when their periods sync up is terrifying.
