I have a CC license but in my county it is still illegal to alter a shotgun or any long gun.
If you aren't a drug user, criminal or have a teen kid in the house then I wouldn't worry about it if it is illegal.
If you use it to defend yourself from a home invader to save your life then a gun charge isn't gonna bother you since you are alive.
You might lose your license though and be prohibited from owning firearms in the future; again, depending on your state/county.
Reason I mentioned teenagers in the house is cause my uncle had his home raided and shot at police because they didn't announce themselves in the middle of the night.
Apparently my cousins boyfriend got involved in in drugs and her name got mentioned. Teenagers make shit decisions, never trust them..

you have a natural right to have a short barreled shotgun, which should be ensured under the 2nd amendment, but unfortunately laws have been passed which make sawed off shotguns illegal... even if a sawed off shotgun WERE legal, it wouldn't be my first choice or even in my top ten... for home self defense.. i would rather have a glock 19, an ar-15 / ak-47 .. or any other quality handgun or semi-auto rifle. shotguns are pushed as good for home defense, but they lack capacity, pump shotguns are slow rate of fire, they have a lot of recoil... there are many better options that are far more controllable and capable.. shotguns are more of a long term self reliance / prepping / survival type firearm imo.. they are great for hunting and reloading when resources are scarce.. etc
