If you live in the middle of nowhere you need an app like this to meet people.
But since you live in the middle of nowhere, you only get like 1000 people. As opposed to say....100,000 if you lived in a city.
But if you live in a city, you don't need Tinder because there's actually places to meet people.

From my experience if you don't get a decent conversation going within the first 2 days you don't really get a another. Girls on there have so many options guys become disposable and the interest becomes diluted.

To build on my experiences with some research, tinder has a number that represents how quantitatively good looking you are comparatively (a rating of sorts); for example if you have a high ratio of people swiping right on you compared to the people that look at your profile, this number is closer to 1 than 0. Tinder goes a step further, it also shows you people who are primarily in the same range as you (so if you have a rating of 0.3 you will get views in the range 2.5 - 3.5 MOST OF THE TIME)
Furthermore people with a higher rating have a higher weighting when they vote, so if someone good looking swipes right on you this score increases more than if someone not as good looking swipes right. It's kind of fucked, but i don't see a better way of doing it.
