I'm undocumented and I'm going to clear up some misconceptions you may have.
First of all most undocumented students were brought here against there will by uneducated parents who had no idea how to go the legal route. Border hopping isn't the most common way people enter the country. Most enter on travel visas and stay after they expire.
No we don't mooch off of taxpayers. In fact American citizens actually mooch off of us. Most undocumented people pay taxes and have a TIN Taxpayer Identification Number. We pay taxes every year like normal people. The difference is we get no benefits. Undocumented people are paying for your social security not the other way around.
Those of you born in America and granted citizen automatically are lucky. A good portion of you wouldn't be able to pass your own citizenship exam. Naturalized citizens are on average a lot smarter than born citizens.
Colleges and scholarships are pretty much handed to you. Undocumented students have to jump through a million hoops just to get admitted to the same school. Also tough luck finding any scholarships when the first requirement is usually "US citizenship"

It's called DACA and no its not legal status. DACA is avail primarily in liberal states like Cali. I also have a SSN but DACA does not grant any legal standing not a path to legal citizenship. It's just a state of limbo between undocumented and citizenship. Any day that status could be revoked.
