How do infinite bigness and infinite smallness coexist?
>>
>>688378488
'infinitely' big or small is a concept we use to simplify things. In the same way that there are no real rigid bodies in existence, but we can, for our purposes sometimes treat things as though they are rigid bodies.
>>
>>688378488
OP here:
why not
Its the infinity of possibility in which we live
>>
>>688378488
>>688378765

>>
>>688378488
Infinite smallness doesn't exists, see quantum mechanics.
>>
>>688378765
So treat them as real bodies, assume the literal.

How is .999...exactly equal to 1?
>>
>>688379647
Well, on one hand, you could consider there's a finite number of particles in the universe. So, infinitely big would be pointless/purely mathematical. On the other hand, we don't know enough about black matter and its link to "regular" matter and energy to affirm that first statement.
Btw, mathematically, "infinitely small" and "infinitely big" exists just fine. It's when you try to use it for physics that you have problems.

>>
>>688378217
If you say "It is dark outside" to what "it" is referring to?
>>
>>688380337
.999... is a limit, namely lim[x->inf] 1-(10^-x), and it's equal to 1.
>>
>>688379922
I'm hoping for a genius level simplistic answer to a complex theory. You're the genius, I'm not judging you. Is the theory valid?
>>
>>688380251
Op here, the ability to discern a pattern has nothing to do with real wisdom. Deciding what should come next in a pattern, or what is more similar to what, has no real basis, unless the pattern is stated to follow a rule or algorithm, but even then, it is shaky. See Wittgenstein on Rules and Private Language
>>
>>688378217

No they don't. Infinitely small in mathematics is zero and infinitely big is used to as a theoretical sign for limits that rise indefinitely.

>>688380337
See: Infinitely small is zero.

My problem is that Bill is spending all of his time with his girlfriend. He even quit his job to have as much sex with her as possible. I never see Bill. I can't call Bill, because he's always "out". What theory? Real bodies? I am not familiar with that kind of theory, and the actual content of such theories are not the stuff that makes wisdom. We could say Socrates was wise, even while having no knowledge of Calculus. Wisdom is not to have a data bank of facts; it is to understand the limitations of those facts: what they say and do not say, and upon what grounds can we call them 'facts' in the first place.

Hello, Op here. When we ask the question of why someone believes something, the answer is that they see what they believe to be evidence in support of that thing. An observation, and a theory that the observation speaks in favor of, are very different from one another. The observation that global temperatures are rising, along with the observation of rising levels of certain gases in the atmosphere, to some, might speak in favor of the theory that those gases are causing the rise in temperatures. While for others, those two observations are unrelated. Do you see what I mean? You are asking about the principle of sufficient reason, and how observations act as evidence in support of a theory. COnt.

Whatever entity was the first one, had to come from nothing but its self. It simply had to exist. If it had an origin, then it wasn't the first.
As for a second one, there would have to be some reason they interacted at a specific point. Think of a beveled domino. Even if it had the ability to fall on it's own, why did it fall at any time other than the begining? If there was a begining, it wasn't an origin.
So it can't be two interacting things, because in that case, there'd have to be a point of interaction, and thus, it must reference a point of origin.
Only a self interacting, dynamic entity could 'begin'
>>
>>688385639
Op here. Your first question supposes that something happened before the big bang. You second question doesn't make much sense; are you wondering if the universe has a purpose? Or do you just want an explanation? To address the third, it's not a matter of wisdom, but physicists are saying that the rate with which the universe is expanding is increasing. Whether it will always do that is not accurately predicted yet. To address your final question, universe means literally everything, so nothing is outside the universe.

That's a tricky question to answer. If we are talking about religion as based on belief of what had been preset as fact, then lot's of things are religion.
The average person's understanding of history is almost completely based on what they were told, and many accept it as truth without question. We as a species are highly religious.
Science is odd, because you do have to have faith in those who partake in exploration and understanding before you, but you also hope to add to it; something that most religions don't really have space for.
So, yes and no.

Op here. That is a good question. At the end of the day, it is senseless, because of the qualifier 'better', but I will ignore that and provide an answer; not THE answer. I think your dilemma is caused by a false separation between times in life where you are affected by other humans, and when you are left to your own devices. No matter what, SOMETHING is inspiring you to think (and therefore act as you do), and it doesn't matter what inspires you, be it a tree, or something related to people. Some states of affairs encourage certain thoughts for certain people, and it is up to the individual to let themselves be inspired in a way which makes the most of that source of inspiration. This is still not a concrete answer, because honestly, there is no such answer. It depends on the individual.

Checked.

Wow so you're just the most narcissistic person i've met.

>>688390908
This is an instance of this kind of question
>>688383819
so I have to give this kind of answer

Socrates was wise in spite of the fact that he didn't know calculus
>>
>>688391408

Some Planck units are suitable for measuring quantities that are familiar from daily experience. For example:

1 Planck mass is about 22 micrograms;
1 Planck momentum is about 6.5 kgâ‹…m/s;
1 Planck energy is about 500 kWâ‹…h;
1 Planck charge is close to 11.7 elementary charges;
1 Planck impedance is close to 30 ohms.

Its impossible to know what happened before the big bang
It probably happened because of a distortion in the space-time field
If it continues to expand in the same rate, eventually the mass will become too spread out and everything will be imploded into one massive black hole

Op here. cmon man. refer to

>>
>>688391596
So woth that being said, it has many other applications rather than just being the smallest unit of measurement?
>>
>>688386377
But for an antivacuum entity to exist there must also be a source of mass right?
>>
>>688390368
interesting answer. You sure taste is dependent on molecular mass ( H20 is a molecule; therefore use molecular mass)?

answer!

So... the multiverse theory?
>>
>>688391899

Apparently, yeah. those are just some examples, there really is *no* worthy instance of this thing being used in the sense of kilograms for weight or liters for liquid.

Op here. I think the key to wisdom is understanding the limits of your 'knowledge'. Being wise, by this idea, is to have intellectual modesty.
>>
>>688378217
OP, what's the easiest way to explain the concept of time only existing as a means of perception?
>>
>>688390899
No you have more
try education
It works sometimes
>>
>>688392177
Op here, there is only one question among these 3, and it has stumped me.
>>
>>688392142
Quite, its the only way to accurately distinguish the difference between different materials
>>
>>688392517
>intellectual modesty
>refers to himself as a genius and starts thread about it.
>>
>>688392637
Op here. Last one I'll try for today. Are you asking the easiest way to claim that time only exists so that we can understand things, and in fact, time doesn't exist at all?
>>
>>688392920
Not sure i agree anon. By that logic everything with the same molecular mass would taste the same which is not at all true. Can you back up you claim with any links?
>>
>>688392844
why cant you explain it
>>
>>688393075
Op here. I don't see what the problem is, considering what I've said about wisdom. Wisdom is understanding when your knowledge is useless.
>>
>>688393110
(You can understand my dilemma)
here is a possibility that the only reason we don't experience everything at once is because we are conciously bound to a brain that stores limited memories.
At this present, your brain's memory bank has not stored anything in what we percive to be the future, and the only reason we recognize what we call the past, is because we have memories of it.
My first thought with this was that our consciousness could jump around and we'd have no clue that it did.
Then I just realized that time itself is only understood the way is is because we perceive it that way.
Is there an easy way to get this concept across, because what I've just typed feels convoluted, even if true.

I said atomic mass
Nothing has the same atomic mass

I always wondered:
I i would slice open a smurfs throat at a certain level under the water... would he drown first or bleed to death first?
Since he's blue, what would be his colour?

WHY DO SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO EAT SHIT?

kinda brilliant
wp
>>
>>688394131
Why do some people like to rip the arms off of babies and rape the hole it creates?
No one knows
>>
>>688393825
Yes, nothing has the same atomic mass. But in regard to water, you are saying that taste corresponds to the separate atoms' atomic weight? please elaborate. Also any links would be appriciated.
>>
>>688394661
Kek im just talking out of my arse m8
If you think about it though, its the only thing that makes sense
>>
>>688394342
why cant you explain a simple sexual fetish?
>>
>>688394959
Because 1. Im not the "genius" OP and 2. I cant be bothered
>>
>>688380803
except everything has patterns. You jsut have to find the pattern and then maniuplate the system for the desired outcome.

a genius would know this.

aso genius would know that wisdom has nothing to do with IQ. And also wisdom is like street smarts, it's what stupid people tell themselves so they can sleep at night.

kind of how your mother tells herself that you are a complete fucking failure before she cries herself to sleep

>every night anon.
>>
>>688394846
haha yeh i had a feeling. I think its more the taste receptors in the mouth and the specific neurochemical effects it has to generate the sensation of "taste", which differs from person to person but shit i aint assed getting into it. Imma fap now
