shit son , do you chew them instead , or what?
>>
I'm on day 2 right now. Head pounding, stomach hurting, hands shaking. I feel like shit but I know once I get through the first few weeks I'll start to feel better. I've made it a year and a half in the past before falling off the wagon and it's amazing how your body can heal. Good luck to anyone that tries.
>>
>>688146947
Sounds like alcohol withdrawal. That doesn't happen from quitting cigs
>>
>>688146947
Dude just get through 3 days. After that it's all in your head. Beware of sudden rush cravings, they pass quickly though. You can do this.
>>
I gave up last year went cold turkey found it the best solution. If that doesn't work use an awarding system like if i can go 3 hours without a smoke then i can have one and then increase the hours.
>>
>>688146506
No: (
>>
i was smoking 20 a day and i decided to slowly reduce to stop, but i failed i couldn't go lower than 5 a day.

then one day i totally stopped and i felt like shit for 3 months. After that it was all over. I now can spend time with smoking friends at parties without problem.

it's easy to stop
>>
I'm smoke 25 and feel bad but can't stop
>>
>>688147072
Thanks doctor faggot
>>
Chantix. Shit worked wonders, helped me to kick a 2 1/2 pack a day habit.
>>
>>688147203
>can't stop drinking tho

Bitch

Smoked a pack a day for 10 years, 3 months into quitting. My advice? Take it one hour at a time for the first 4 days, then a day at a time. People look too far ahead and cave. Deal with the future later, get through the hour etc.
>>
>>688147321
Fuck chantix. That shit will make you go insane.
>>
>>688146506

Why the fuck do you post this same fucking thread over and over again?
>>
>>688147321
Did you have side effects? I've heard some people have terrible nightmares on chantix.
>>
>>688146506
I vape.
>>
>>688147456
my mom went crazy because of that shit.
Suicidal and shit
>>
>>688147343
That's what I've been doing and I was smoking 25 per day and I'm down to 4-5 a day
>>
>>688147343
This. I wentday by day now I'm into a year and a half
>>
>>688147343
Good advice, thanks anon
>>
>>688147620
Awesome dude, cold turkey all the way. WE DID IT BRAH
>>
Why the fuck would you smoke anyways? Just vape.
>>
>>688147806
vape was not a thing a few years ago damn fucking moron
>>
>>688147343
Can confirm. Im currently quitting by the hours and now I have one every 3 hours whereas before I was smoking one literally every 20 minutes

>tfw I already feel my lung function improving and I haven't even quit yet
>>
Quit last December with Chantix. Was smoking around a 30 cigs a day and had been smoking for over 30 years. (yes I'm old) It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be.
>>
>>688147343
4thing this.

also.whyquit.com is pages and pages of convincing shit. go to this site when you have cravings, it's really good at explaining how nicotine addiction works and why there is no such thing as 'cutting down' with nicotine addiction.
>>
>>688147914
>damn fucking moron
>not understanding im talking about vaping to quit the fucking smoking

damn fucking moron.
>>
>>688148030
tried that.
didn't work
did make my chest hurt though
>>
>>688146506
champix m8 in two weeks time i will have been of the smokes for a year and haven't had a craving since, shit works wonders
>>
i used to smoke two packs a day.

more or less quit. still might grab a pack when i go back to my home town, or bum one off someone when i go out drinking. but that only adds up to a couple packs a year.

no patches or anything. just went cold turkey long enough that i could smoke a few days and then stop smoking without any strong urges to do it again.

also vaped for a period of like 6 months, but stopped because i didn't like the nicotine reliance.
>>
>>688147998
>no such thing as cutting down

u wot? I quit by cutting down first...... haven't had a cig in 8 years
>>
>>688148030
vaping? get out of here, vaping is the smoking weed rehab situation. come back when you have a problem
>>
>>688148104
I am not a professional but it should do the job as long as you start at a reasonable nicotine level.

And in what way did your chest hurt?
>>
>>688147959
Iktf bro I was pretty much chain smoking for the last 2 years
>>
>>688148178
It's psychological, bro.

If you smoked 2 packs a day and cut down to 1 cig a weak, that cig activates the 2 pack a day addiction. There was literally no difference between you last cigarette and if you quit cold turkey at 2 packs.
>>
>>688146506
I quit, came back, quit, started vaping and only allow myself 1 cigarette a day and usually smoke half at a time
>>
>>688148203
I am addicted to cigarettes, and I used to vape. Vaping helped me a lot.

Weed is not a problem unless you decide to act like a fucking hoodrat.
>>
>>688148419
I found it easier to cut down over time than to go cold turkey

Also I've noticed everyone I know who's quit didn't quit because they wanted to it was because they basically had to for financial reasons

>tfw I couldnt afford them so I had to quit
>>
>>688148667
Like I said, it may help psychologically to quit over time, but it prolongs withdrawals. The nicotine receptors down go away, literally one drag will reactivate nicotine addiction to pre-quit levels.
>>
>>688148944
don't* go away
>>
>>688148944
Strange
>>
Shit mang i gotta kick opiates and smoking
>>
are you going to keep making this shitty thread every week?
>>
>>688149461
Nothing wrong with opiates
>>
>>688146506
Smoked pack a day for about 3 years. I was 2 - 4 packs a week for a few years before that (built up to pack a day over that time)

Quit 3 months ago, tomorrow. Doing better than I expected this time, this is my second attempt. Just push through man.

Lobbyists. You can do a lot of things when you have a senator or two in your back pocket. Plus alcohol and tobacco use are generally more socially acceptable than weed, coke, etc.
>>
Ive quit before by not buying any new packs.
I chain smoke and refrain from smoking the rest of the day and still end up with a pack a day.
>>
>>688146506
Start smoking weed to ease the withdrawals.

Then stop smoking weed 10x more easily because no withdrawals

I did it and all my friends have

Alright /b/ serious post coming thru
really trying my best to quit smoking
Smoked 2 packs in 3 days
Did pretty well for 4 days
Today on the 5th day I couldn't handle the cravings and had to have a cigarette
Now I'm debating whether I should have a couple of more today (since I already had one already) and try anew tomorrow or try to bear through and continue trying.
Any tips from those who managed to quit smoking?
Any rules of thumb, neat tricks, anything?
Vaping didn't help, nicotine patches and nicorettes were worthless (I kinda got hooked on the nicotine gum so had to kick the nicotine gum habit as well), heard something about varenicline tartrate which is supposed to make smoking as pleasurable as stepping in a puddles. Anyone have any experience in that?
>>
>>688147072
I quit smoking four months ago, and I had all of those symptoms. You clearly don't understand what "nicotine withdrawal" actually is you tremendous faggot
>>
>>688149461
Kratom can help you matey
>>
>>688151254
I quit before I said
I picked up heavy drinking so before I quit smoking i'd worry more about the drinking first.
>>
>>688151737
I drink everyday and still managed to quit cigs
>>
>>688151806
ive not tried to stop drinking for a day since I started
I'm scared
>>
>>688146506

Technically yes and no. It's more accurate to say it quit me.

I'd stopped for 2 weeks and eventually had to smoke...within seconds of inhaling my heart rate and breathing went batshit out of control and I had to jump in a cab to ER and was kep in CCU overnight for observation.

They told me it's a known thing in some people who quit where the body loses all resistance to cigarettes and it would just happen again if I tried with the very real chance it could kill me.

Long story short I haven't smoked since and that was 20 years ago.
>>
>>688146947
Dude how much did you smoke before?
>>
>>688151911
How much do you drink a day?
>>
>>688151913

Oh, it's worth pointing out I've had an allergy to cigarette smoke ever since too. It fucked my immune response to it up in some way.
>>
>>688146671
more like every 3 hours
>>
>>688152082
.5 liter of liquor a day on fri-sun and something like 8+ drinks during the week days.
I think my best plan is to ween off.
