I think we should do both. It's a pairing of inter-related subjects so they play off each other. I say a solid page or two on the evolution of stringed instruments from inception to about the Rennaissance. Then we con focus on the physical characteristics of the modern guitar that was conceived in the mid 19th century by some spic. We can also weave in something about royal patronage and why it became popular. Perhaps something on practicality and accessibility. We can begin talking about famous players and how they spread infuence through popularity. We can end by talking about modern music and how the guitar has impacted it ie metal, classic rock, jazz, blues, etc. We should mention the importance of guitar to particular cultures like spanish guitar/mariachi, blues/jazz for blacks, country snd rock for whites. Perhaps we should point out the economic impact as well.
