Before you fuck it up, you have to hard disable the power system. Don't worry, it's completely reversible.
Open Notepad and type the following:

Then save it as "Disable.bat". Once it's saved, double-click to run it.
That way, when you pull out your components you'll avoid a power surge. Then, the next time you boot your computer, the file will automatically disable itself.
