I don't really read into politics that much, but he seemed to be trying to align the USA's policies with the rest of the developed world, ie healthcare.

It seems most of what he/his administration tried to put into place ended up neutered, or working in a half assed way, because of various factors. I think he gets alot more hate from the right because most of the right is lowkey racist, but he get's a lot of respect just for being black from the left/rest of the world.

I think in the short term, he's gonna be remembered as the last proper president before Hilary/Trump fuck it all up, and for 'Thanks Obama' memes. In the long term, he'll probably be the turning point for the USA starting to head into socialist policies (or the beginning and end), and for being the first black POTUS.
