I too have wondered why people like these fluffy pony threads, especially since I became a fan myself.

I can only understand it from a psychodynamic perspective. We all have an angry side to us that doesn't care about others. Normally, we have to keep this in check, so as to be able to function in society. I in particular have to empathise with people on a daily basis.

I think that a harmless outlet (watching cartoon characters being abused) is probably very relaxing for people who spend most of their lives trying to be extra nice all the time.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Claire. She lived with her mother and father in a very nice part of Vancouver.
Claire's best friend in the whole world was her dog, Abbie, a golden retriever who was older than Claire. Abbie
used to guard Claire's crib when she was a baby, and Claire grew up loving her, her big, golden fluffy friend. Then,
one day, when Claire was 12 years old, Abbie died.

Claire was devastated. She had never known death before, and though Abbie was old, and her parents tried to prepare
her for it, the loss of Abbie hit Claire like a body blow. All the happiness and joy that Claire had known seemed to
be gone, and nothing her mother or father could do would ever make things better. Claire stopped going to school, didn't
see any of her friends, and even stopped eating for a while. Understandably, her parents were really worried about her.
Nothing seemed to work, and Claire seemed trapped in a grey world of despair. Walking the streets of her city, visiting
the parks where she used to run and play with Abbie, the whole world seemed pointless. Her father suggested getting a
new puppy, but to Claire this just seemed like a cruel joke. What would be the point of getting another dog? It would
just get old and die, like Abbie did. Like everyone will.

Claire drifted through the days and weeks, back at school, but not really involved with things. Nothing seemed to make
her happy, until a flash of brightly coloured fur caught her eye in the mall one day.

FLUFFIES FOR SALE, the sign read. ONLY $10 EACH. Below was a play pen full of baby fluffies.

of the playpen was a baby fluffy with bright red fur, staring into her eyes. It had a look of sadness and desperation
for love that reminded her of Abbie.

Claire was amazed. A talking animal! No, not an animal, a biotoy, but it could talk, and it was talking to her.

Claire wanted to look away, to retreat back into her sadness and its cold embrace, but something stirred inside her.

Other fluffies had seen her by now, a beautiful white Unicorn with the beginnings of a blue mane and tail fur was
standing next to the red baby and starring up at Claire. In the background, various other fluffies were bounding over
towards her, calling out to her, doing their little dances to attract her attention and reaching up to her for hugs.

"Mummah?" Asked the red baby once more, as if afraid that Claire would pick a different fluffy.

Without knowing why, Claire found herself leaning over the play pen, and gently picking up the red baby. It was soft
and warm and wriggly, and squeeled with delight as she lifted it up.

"Babbeh wuv nice upsies and huggies!"

By now Claire was astonished, she stared at the red baby fluffy, cradled in her hands and was totally dumbstruck.

Claire nearly started to cry. Why would this strangle little creature love her so much, they had only just met?

stinky from the play pen, and quivered and cooed at her touch. So tiny and delicate. Claire was in love.

"You're fur is like strawberry jelly... I think I'll call you Jelly," Claire said, to the red fluffy.

"Jewwy? Fwuffy have name? Fwuffy am Jewwy? Jewwy am gud name. Jewwy wuv name."

Claire laughed, how could these things be so damned cute?

"And you..." she said, looking at the white foal, you look just like a snowflake, your name is Snowflake.

Claire didn't know what to say to them, and still couldn't believe that these little creatures could talk.

Arriving home, her parents still weren't back from work. Slowly, Claire opened the box the store had given her, and carefully lifted the tiny beasts in her hands.

"Mummah! Is nyu home?" Said Jelly, the red baby fluffy.

"Snowfwake wike nyu home!" chirped her sister, the white Unicorn with the blue mane.

"Hee Hee HEE!!!" Jelly squeeled with excitement, so much so that she pooped all over Claire's hand.

"Ewwwww... that is gross!" Claire gasped in shock. How could such a cute little thing be so disgusting?

"Am sowwee mummah, fwuffy no mean it... no mean do bad poopies... Jewwy am gud fwuffy, pwease no sowwee stick!" Jelly was looking at Claire with fear in her eyes, trying to hide and wincing in anticipation, as if Claire was going to hit her.

"Sorry stick? What's a sorry stick?" Claire asked, holding the the baby fluffy over the box from the pet shop whilst poop dripped onto her bed.

"Sowwee stick am for bad fwuffies dat make bad poopsies, but jewwy no mean it! Pwease no beat jewwy!"

Claire was lost for words again "They... they used to beat you with a stick if you pooped somewhere wrong?"

"No... no I dont have a sorry stick, but I'll have to get you a litterbox."

"We'll have to get you cleaned up though," said Claire, taking both Fluffies through to the bathroom.

"Ooooooh, wat white woom?" Asked Jelly.

"This is the bathroom, its for getting clean."

Claire set the fluffies down in the bathtub, and turned on the hot tap, releasing a fountain of water into the tub. Even though the fluffies were sat almost three feet away from the water, they immediately started to freak out, running as far away as they could. They were pissing and pooping themselves with fear and squeeling loudly for such little things.

"NUUUUUUU! Scawy wawa! Nu wike!"

"Hewp mummah! Save Snowfwake from wawa musta!"

Claire burst out laughing, "You silly fluffies, this isn't a monster, its just the bathtub, for getting clean."

For the next twenty minutes, Claire cleaned the fluffies. Firstly, she washed their poop and pee away with some warm water. Then she put the plug in the bathtub, and filled it up just the tiniest bit, just up to the legs of the shivering fluffies. All the way through they cried and complained, about "scawy wawa!" and how it was "bad for fwuffies!". They begged Claire to stop, asking her why she was being so mean, if they had been bad fluffies, and promising never to make bad poopies ever again. Shampoo terrified them at first, but then they realised in smelled nice, and that they would smell nice, and that the water was warm, rather than scary. Wrapped up in a towel and cuddling with their new mummah, the fluffies calmed down and started telling Claire how much they loved her. Claire felt happy for the first time in many months.

Part 03 - Settling In

Claire spent most of the next few days playing with her new Fluffies. At first her mother and father were surprised and concerned about her new pets. Fluffies are hard to take care of, her father would tell her. They were delicate, and not very smart, and could have accidents he'd said. They would poop everywhere, and escape, or get pregnant by some nasty feral fluffy, her mother had told her. But Claire knew they were wrong. She would take care of Jelly and Snowflake and be the bestest mummah in the whole world, as the fluffies seemed to think she would be.

On their first night, Jelly and Snowflake slept in an old cardboard box by the side of Claire's bed. They had an old towel to snuggle up in, and they cuddled each other for warmth. Claire gave them a bowl of muesli and a bowl of water, and fed them grapes as treats. The fluffies cooed and giggled, and told Claire how much they loved her. They cuddled her fingers and sucked on her fingertips, trying to get "miwkies". Claire thought they were the most adorable things ever. She took pictures of them with her iPhone and put them online for all her friends to see. Everyone thought they were amazing.

The next day, Claire's father took her back to the store. He had a bit of an argument about selling fluffies to children, but the owner said that as Claire was twelve, she was allowed to buy them by law. He then haggled with the store owner, and bought a fluffy pen, with a water bottle, bedding, a litterbox, water bottle, dishes for food, foal-kibble and a bunch of toys for them to play with.

The fluffies loved their new home. Claire added poster tubes and kitchen towel tubes to make tunnels for them, and they ran around exploring, chasing each other and making nests. They ate the foal kibble and played with the balls and plushy toys that "nyu daddeh" had bought for them, even though they were bigger than the fluffies. Apart from a few accidents, they made good poopies in the litterbox, and slept snuggled up in a nest of tissues which Claire helped them make. At night, they needed a night light to be left on, as they couldn't handle the "scawy dawk time". Claire would laugh as she heard them argue with each other about who was the "bestest babbeh" when they thought she couldn't hear them, and she went to sleep to the sounds of them chirping and chatting to each other.

Snowflake was by far the prettiest fluffy. Claire looked online, and saw that pure white unicorns were worth hundreds of dollars! A blue mane and tale would reduce the price a little, but she would still be worth over $150 once she was fully grown. Claire couldn't believe the bargain she had gotten, getting both foals for $20. Snowflake seemed smart and brave, and settled in much more quickly than Jelly, learning to use the litterbox easily, and being less shocked or afraid than Jelly.

Jelly on the other hand, was really cute, but not very clever. Jelly would wander off, chew electrical wires, and see "munstahs!" everywhere. She was terrified of shadows, the doors slamming, teddy bears (clearly munstahs), food she had not seen before, strange lumps in the litterbox, strange poops in the litterbox, worring that she might not make it to the litterbox, and that Claire would secretly have a sorry stick, if she were a bad fluffy.

Although she used to laugh at how stupid Jelly was, eventually Claire came to realise that the fluffies might actually be quite traumatised from their time in the store. She did all she could to reassure them that her bedroom was safe (but that they were not to chew electrical wires) and that there was no sorry stick anywhere, and that they were good fluffies. In spite of this, Jelly still seemed afraid.

"Jelly you silly beast, there is no sorry stick, I keep telling you that," Claire exclaimed one day, as she cleaned up another one of Jelly's accidents.

"You get scared and you poop, and then you get scared *because* you've pooped"

"Am sowwee mummah, it was a haxidunt, jewwy no mean make bad poopies, it was meanie munstah dog next daw bawking, it scawe jewwy."

"The dog next door doesn't mean to scare you," sighed Claire, thinking about Abbie for a moment, "Its just barking at the mail man."

"Is weawy no sowwee stick?" asked Jelly.

"Yes, there is no sowwee stick here. Did the pet shop man have a sowwee stick?"

"Yes! And Jewwy was a bad fwuffy... used to get sowwee stick aww da time... hu hu huuuuu..." Jelly began to cry, and started to tell Claire about how horrible the pet shop had been.

By now, Jelly was bawling her eyes out. Claire picked her up and cuddled her, and sat her down on a towel on the bed. Picking up her sister Snowflake, she sat her down, next to Jelly, for cuddle and moral support. Once Jelly had stopped hu huing, and had managed to catch her breath, Claire asked her to tell her what the nasty fluffy store owner had done.

"Da fwuffy stowe daddeh am meanie munstah, hu hu huuuuu" choked fluffy, tearing up and starting to cry. Her sister cuddled her, laying her unicorn head against Jelly's, and snuggling her close.

"Snowflake, can you tell me what happened?" Claire asked the braver fluffy.

"Fwuffy stowe daddeh am biggest meanie, he huwt jewwy wiv sowwee stick, if jewwy made bad poopies."

"That's awful..." said Claire, "did he hurt you too?"

"Nu, am gud babbeh, not stoopid stinky babbeh, Snowfwake know to make good poopies in wittabox." Snowflake said, beaming with pride.

"What about the other fluffies?" Claire asked, looking concerned at the effect Snowflake's pride was having on her sister.

"He huwt dem too, if dey be bad fwuffies." Snowflake responded.

"He taked us fwom mumma! Huuu Huuu Huuu!" Jelly cried, and started to tell her the whole story, interspaced with moments of uncontrollable sobbing, during which time Snowflake would offer further explaination, comforting her sister as she wept.

The fluffy shop owner sounded truly monstrous. As well as beating fluffies for the smallest mistakes, he would put them in a "sowwy box" and leave them there over night, whilst the terrified fluffies cried for their siblings and mummas. He had taken Jelly, Snowflake and their brother away from their mother far too early, throwing them into a pen with older fluffies, who would bully them, giving them "wowstest owwies" before holding them down and making "sowwy poopies" on them.

Claire's eyes widened with shock. This monster was making fluffies fight, kill and even eat each other. Claire knew that there were fluffy abusers in the world, and with fluffies being legally considered toys rather than animals, they had no legal protection from them. This, combined with feral fluffy infestations, led to exterminators and fluffy hunts. This Claire could understand, but not abusers. Not someone who would enjoy hurting such fragile little creatures. Jelly and Snowflake had only escaped the fluffy fighting because they were babies.

In the end, she decided not to ask them any more about their lives at the fluffy store. The foals were easily distracted, and had been happy at home, most of the time, except for occasional accidents. With time, they might forget about what happened, and Claire didn't want to traumatize them any further. Claire couldn't forget though, even as she tried to. Kissing the fluffies good night, she put them back into their pen for the night, snuggled up with each other in a nest of paper towels. She gave each of them a grape, which would last each of them a good while, feeling better as they chirped away about "bestest nummies" and how much they loved their "mummah" and their "nyu home".

Claire laid down to sleep, but her rest was fitful. She couldn't get the image of fluffies fighting one another out of her head, or the horror of a man cutting a baby fluffies lumps off. When she did sleep, her dreams were haunted.
