An great example of proprietary software is directX is an example of another one of Microsoft proprietary softwares that are the main cause why devs have to live on their bloated OS instead of Linux. I've been using Windows since 95. Later on started using OS X along side it for another machine. And more recently Linux on an old laptop for fucking around. Every single iteration of all those OS's has had their quirks and issues. Sometimes they affected me more than other.
Putting that aside, Windows 10 has been THE single easiest version of Windows to install and setup across many varying machines I have ever come across.
Considering I frequently have to install it and set it up on machines every day for work, and do so on hardware of all types and ages, I have a fair understanding of how difficult each version has been on a larger scale than just my hardware.

I installed DVDfab media player and in a folder in my documents was a screenshot of my fucking desktop that it took. It was in a log folder. Those faggots take SCREENSHOTS. If I didn't have a firewall and let that fucking program connect it probably would have sent the fucking thing to their servers. What if my password or some other personal shit was displayed on my screen then they would have seen it?. Not a log file, not some piece of general information like text of some shit. Windows was never taught to me, but it was what we had in our house as a child, and 30 and years later it's still what I use. Not because it's "shiny" but because I know it inside and out and therefore it's what I'm most productive with.
When I'm not working I'm enjoying my free time doing things I enjoy. If you enjoy learning various Linux distros in your free time and get competent enough with then to use as a daily driver that's fine, got nothing wrong with that. But I simply will not invest the time to become familiar with a new operating system because I don't enjoy the process of that and I will not waste my little free time on what feels like a chore.
