I use gamemaker for my bullshit indie titles that I do for fun, like this one. I use Unity 3d otherwise for my more successful bullshit indie titles.
Gamemaker is actually not a horrible resource if you're not a fucking child and can problem solve, so you might wanna consider it if you're looking to start game development.

I'm not usually the artist when I make video games. I make 3d models, program, and do sound design, but when it comes to 2d sprite work and making them in 30 seconds along with replying, my sprites turn out as aids.

Out of what you said what is your favorite? And what is the size of your team versus the roles they play? Are you pulling too much weight? Do you wish you could just be programming for better games where you didn't get spread too thin filling lots of roles? Or do you wish you could just create better sound environments? I'd say just start game development and start with something simple for your first project, and with your second project, know you're going to fail, but still try to do what you want to do. Like, go all in, and realize you don't have the experience, but still try.
