jones - he's responsible for the riffs (i agree that the riffs are pretty simple, cuz I play guitar myself and write music too) and artistic shit

carey - good drummer, unique style, especially the use of mandala pads

chancellor - "literally who?" - lol'd, the whole rhythmic section is an important part in this band

Tool is not a technical band, if u want some virtuoso wankery you have dream theater. Tool is to be admired for the whole experience: music + lyrics + art. They inspired numerous artists. Their albums are pretty solid, (espiecially the last two - no bad song).

summary: May sound pretentious but you don't listen to Tool, you experience them.
