Okay, so you are saying that because in a open area, where two large groups of people are shooting at each other, some of them having never been in combat before, are evil for having shot indiscriminatly in the direction of the enemy. We are not talking about mowing down a crowd of civilians, the case you are referencing is where they had been fired at in a area they belive to be empty, and having nobody living around it. There is no signs of activity, then they got shot at, and they said they fired indiscriminatly at the building, since nobody was supposed to be living anywhere near where this happened, like for miles. That is perfectly acceptable, every time. If a gunfight is going on in a unpopulated area that is a warzone, it is a commonly accepted rule of warfare that anyone not flying a white flag is a combatant. even if they are not actively trying to kill you. (Which they were in fact doing.)
